Shincheonji Volunteer Group Pyeongtaek Branch, Cleans Up Fallen Leaves Around Tongbuk Children's Park
“The fallen leaves were difficult to deal with, but now that they’re all cleared up, the air feels cooler and it’s safer to walk. Thank you for volunteering even on this cold day.”
A citizen who watched the Shincheonji Volunteer Group Pyeongtaek Branch (Pyeongtaek Branch) collecting fallen leaves at Tongbok Children's Park in Pyeongtaek, Gyeonggi Province on the 8th December said this.
The area around Tongbok Children's Park is a place where citizens frequently pass by, with Tongbok Market and Tongbok Stream nearby, so safety is a must. After hearing that citizens were experiencing inconveniences in their traffic due to fallen leaves, the Pyeongtaek branch concentrated on collecting fallen leaves, centred around the park. There were also cigarette butts strewn across the park which the Pyeongtaek Branch cleared away.
A Pyeongtaek branch official said, “We wanted to improve the appearance as well as contribute to the safety of citizens.”
Meanwhile, the volunteer activity is part of the 'Green Nature' campaign of Shincheonji Volunteer Group held nationwide, which is purposed to preserve a beautiful nature for posterity by carrying out wetland conservation activities, environmental cleanups to protect major facilities and cultural assets, disaster recovery activities, public awareness campaigns for environmental protection, and the creation of flower paths in waste dumping areas.
