“The brighter the wall becomes, the brighter the neighbourhood seems to become. Thank you so much!”
This is a citizen's reaction to seeing a mural painted on the wall of Miaewon, a social welfare corporation in Busan.
The Eastern Busan Branch of the Shincheonji Volunteer Group (hereafter referred to as the Eastern Busan Branch) completed the mural volunteer activity, “Wall Story,” at the social welfare corporation Miaewon from October 31st to December 2nd.
'Wall Story' is one of the three major projects of Shincheonji Volunteer Group in South Korea. It is an urban regeneration project that restores dilapidated murals through drawings and paintings, depicting characteristics specific to local regions and the stories of local residents. The themes and pictures designed on the murals are decorated at the request of the beneficiaries.
This most recent activity consisted of cleaning walls and painting murals, and a total of 80 volunteers participated.

Volunteers decorated the 32-metre-long Miaewon fence inside and out, adding colourful images of nature-themed flowers, trees, whales, and more. This created a bright and hopeful atmosphere and brought about warm changes to the local community.
