Icheon City announced that last month, a record amount of snow of up to 43 cm fell, causing damage to 14 townships and wards, including the collapse of greenhouses, resulting in a total of 2274 cases and 37.3 billion won (c.£20 million) in damage.
At the request of the Icheon City Volunteer Center, dozens of volunteers from the Shincheonji Volunteer Group Icheon Branch gathered in sub-zero temperatures to carry out restorative work on a ginseng field damaged by heavy snow in Sindun Town, Icheon City, Gyeonggi Province, on the 12th December.
The ginseng farm in question suffered major damage when its sunshade collapsed under the weight of heavy snowfall.
The farm owner said, “The snow was so heavy with moisture that the sunshades collapsed and it was bleak,” and added, “I was so grateful that so many people reached out to us with kindness even in this cold weather.”
