“Every time I passed by this alley, it was dirty and gloomy, but thanks to the pretty murals, it has become so beautiful. It’s like being in a fairy tale land.”

This is the impression of a local resident who witnessed the 'Wall Story' activity conducted by the Shincheonji Volunteer Group Masan Branch (hereinafter referred to as the Masan Branch) on a factory wall in Changwon Special City from November 19th to December 10th.

'Wall Story' is one of the three major projects of Shincheonji Volunteer Group in South Korea. It is an urban regeneration project that restores dilapidated murals through drawings and paintings, depicting characteristics specific to local regions and the stories of local residents. The themes and pictures designed on the murals are decorated at the request of the beneficiaries.

About 90 members of the Masan branch repaired a 75m-long wall and used paint to create a bright and hopeful mural with a blue sea theme.

In particular, this volunteer work focused on improving the poor environment of Sogye-dong, which is full of narrow back roads and densely packed factories.

Small lights were also installed in previously dark and gloomy alleyways to prevent crime and create a safe environment for returning home.

The head of the Masan branch, said, “I hope that this volunteer work will be appreciated beyond its simple aesthetic effect as a space that provides positive energy to local residents.”
