These are the words of a woman in her 50s who attended the '2024 Fundraising Concert: Fostering Self-Reliance in Youth' hosted by the Namdong Branch of the Shincheonji Volunteer Group (hereinafter referred to as the Namdong Branch) in Incheon Metropolitan City, Republic of Korea, on the 21st.

A youth preparing for independence refers to a young person who was protected in a child care facility, group home, or foster care, but when they turn 18, protection ends and they must stand on their own.

Incheon Metropolitan City is home to nearly 500 young people preparing for independent living. The economic and psychological pressures faced by some youth are not uncommon, with a significant number expressing a need for housing assistance or support from feelings of isolation.

The volunteers of the Namdong Branch welcomed the attendees with warm tea and encouraged the attendees to donate items and caricature skills.

A representative from the Namdong Branch said, “We hope that those who participate in this fundraiser will not forget that there are young people in difficult situations and that this will continue to lead to a culture of consistent donations.”
