“We will do our best to provide practical help to our marginalised neighbours and create a warm community where we can live together.”
With this attitude of heart, the Daejeon branch of the Shincheonji Volunteer Group has been consistently working with the local community throughout 2024 by regularly donating food to the ‘Fridge Share’ located in the Gayang 1-dong and Seongnam-dong administrative welfare centres in Daejeon City, Republic of Korea.
The 'Fridge Share' is a space where low-income households can freely take food, and the Daejeon branch fills it with groceries and self-made side dishes to help neighbours improve their eating habits.
In particular, in January of this year, the 22nd Love Your Neighbour Coal Briquette Sharing event was held in Daedong, and 2000 briquettes were delivered to six households, in the lead up to the bitter winter months.
Meanwhile, in addition to the 'Fridge Share' service, the Daejeon branch is contributing to the formation of a warm community through various voluntary activities including the 'Good Donation, Good Consumption' campaign, in which a portion of profits generated through daily consumption from stores that have signed an agreement with the Shincheonji Volunteer Group are distributed to individuals and community projects, and the 'More the Better' project, which promotes emotional wellbeing through the sharing of companion plants.
