Shincheonji Volunteer Group Gwangju-Jeonnam Association, “Carrying Out Volunteer Activities for Community Growth in 2025”
In 2024, 5680 members of the Shincheonji Volunteer Group Gwangju-Jeonnam Association (hereinafter referred to as the Gwangju-Jeonnam Association) donned yellow vests and led the way in volunteerism with the participation of local governments, organisations and citizens in each region within Gwangju and Jeonnam.
In particular, amid worsening climate patterns, the six branches of the Gwangju-Jeonnam Association (Gwangju, Mokpo, Yeosu, Suncheon, Songha, and Gwangyang) all held activities in line with each local government's practice of environmental protection and carbon neutrality. The Gwangju-Jeonnam Association's large-scale citizen-participatory environmental campaigns included climate photo exhibitions, various carbon-neutral experience booths, and marine waste collection activities.

Moreover, a volunteer service that is impacting the geographical landscape is the 'Wall Story' project, a village beautification project that continuously carries out maintenance and repairs, such as follow-up planting work, and maintains a strong relationship with not only residents but also relevant local organisations.

Furthermore, the Gwangju-Jeonnam Association has been consistently carrying out various other volunteer services for neighbours in the region, including the 'Mobile Health Doctor' service, the 'Love Your Country, Share Peace' project to spread awareness of the importance of peace, the 'Beautiful Seniors' project to support a happy and healthy retirement, 'Pink Cloth' to provide warm meals for marginalised neighbours, and the 'More the Better' project that promotes emotional wellbeing by distributing companion plants.
An official from the Gwangju-Jeonnam Association said, “In 2025, we will carry out volunteer activities that the local community wants and, in the process of strengthening relationships with related organisations, grow together.”
