“Not everyone can donate blood. Nevertheless, the Blood Center has kept its promised blood donation figures every year. This is keeping a promise to the country, and I pay tribute to and express my gratitude for the volunteers’ will to put it into practice.”

This is what the Director of the Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province Blood Centre Jae-Yong Eom said at the closing ceremony of the 'We Are Red 2024 Blood Donation Campaign' held in Wonju on the 20th.

The We Are Red blood donation campaign of We Are One, named 'The Miracle Moment', is purposed to save lives by donating blood one donor at a time; that is, celebrating the moment when a person gains life through blood donation, the moment when the blood supply crisis is overcome, and the moment when a life-saving blood donation culture is established.

The event, attended by approximately 50 people, included the viewing of a highlight video, congratulatory remarks by the Blood Centre Director, awards ceremony, and blood donation voucher presentation ceremony.

The We Are One Gangwon Branch has proven its significant contribution to the spread and continuation of blood donation culture by recording a total of 27,402,000 (c.£15,000) in blood donation vouchers raised from 4155 people in total from January to November.

Chuncheon branch member Ji-woo Lee said, “It was heartbreaking to see people losing their lives due to lack of blood supply through the media,” and added, “I will continue to actively participate in blood donation events to help save lives, even if only a little.”

Meanwhile, We Are One is a youth volunteer organisation comprised of 90,000 youth volunteers from Korea.
