“We were able to create a clean Changwon Station because we worked together. Thank you for teaching us the value of working together”
A citizen who participated in the 'Village Spring Clean' activity carried out by the Masan branch of the Shincheonji Volunteer Group near Changwon Station, South Gyeongsang Province, said this.
Changwon Station is a vibrant space used by countless people every day that provides a crucial transportation link to South Korea's bustling capital, Seoul, but is always littered with rubbish and cigarette butts.
On that day, 21st October, for around two hours, 30 volunteers carried out 'plogging' (act of picking up litter while jogging) along a 1km section near Changwon Station, amassing about 350 litres of waste, including cigarette butts.

These environmental clean-up efforts by the Masan branch left a deep impression on the surrounding citizens.
A local citizen who was discouraged by the amount of litter strewn across the street despite his best effort to clean up the environment said, “I was so grateful that the Masan branch also felt the same awareness around this issue and participated.”
The Masan Branch strives to become a volunteer group that beautifies and protects the region through consistent activities.
Meanwhile, the 'plogging' activity is part of the 'Green Nature' campaign conducted nationwide by Shincheonji Volunteer Group. The campaign carries out wetland conservation activities, environmental cleanups to protect major facilities and cultural assets, disaster recovery activities, public awareness campaigns for environmental protection, and the creation of flower paths in illegal dumping areas in order to maintain the beauty of nature for posterity.
