Shincheonji Volunteer Group is an organisation that carries out volunteer activities for local communities throughout South Korea.

On the 1st April, Shincheonji Volunteer Group Jinhae Branch (Director Seong-bok Jo) conducted the 'Visiting Health Doctor, Five Senses Tour' programme on a visit to Homigot Village and Gyeongju National Museum with members of the Gyeongnam Housing Association of Persons with Disabilities.

The 'Visiting Health Doctor' programme, which marks its 9th year this year, provides free medical services to foreign workers, who are often caught in the medical 'blind spot', the elderly living alone, and the underprivileged.

This particular programme was conducted in conjunction with the 'Five Senses Tour' project, which serves to remove the societal barriers between people with disabilities and people without and establishes a support structure for increased communication, understanding and the overcoming of physical and mental barriers.

The event was attended by 25 people along with members of the Gyeongnam Housing Association of Persons with Disabilities, and they enjoyed various activities such as a canola flower field tour, a tour around Homigot village, a canyon train experience, a wheelchair race, 'breaking the gourd', and an award ceremony.

Afterwards, they visited Gyeongju National Museum to see the cultural heritage and relics of the Silla Dynasty, learn the beautiful culture and noble spirit of their ancestors, and heal body and mind with a long-distance scenic tour that had been problematic due to COVID-19 and their physical limitations.

An official from the Gyeongnam Housing Association of Persons with Disabilities, who participated in the event, expressed his gratitude to all the volunteers who participated in the event, saying, “After the event, I was really happy to see that  members were able to overcome their difficulties through the help of the volunteers.”

An official from the Jinhae branch said, “I was a little nervous before today's meeting, but it was really good to be able to spend the day with one mind and heart while doing various activities.”

The Gyeongnam Housing Association of Persons with Disabilities indicated that it hopes to work with Shincheonji Volunteer Group Jinhae branch in carrying out many volunteer activities, such as sharing free meals on the first and third weeks of every month, improving the environment, and installing convenience facilities.

Meanwhile, Shincheonji Volunteer Group Jinhae Branch continues to conduct various activities for society, including, among others, the 'More the Better' programme for the promotion of emotional wellbeing through the donation of companion plants to government offices and residential associations; 'Wall Story' programme for the rejuvenation of dilapidated murals; 'Green Nature' programme for environmental protection; and 'Love for Country and Peace-Sharing' programme for the common realisation of peace.
