[Cheonji Ilbo, Chungbuk = Reporter Na-Ri Hong] Shincheonji Volunteer Group Cheongju Branch (Director Moo-gyeom Je) announced on the 2nd that it had carried out an emotional wellbeing service for people with disabilities through the 'Health Doctor' project.

Health Doctor is a free medical service for the underprivileged, including foreign workers and people with disabilities, who are in the medical 'blind spot'.

Starting in 2012, the Cheongju branch of Shincheonji Volunteer Group has held the Health Doctor project for foreign residents and workers and conducted activities to promote the emotional wellbeing of about 500 foreigners across 6 sessions, including in 2022 following the Coronavirus pandemic. It is a free volunteer service that promotes emotional and physical wellbeing through the 'Five Senses Tour' project conducted for people with disabilities.

According to the Cheongju branch of Shincheonji Volunteer Group on the 3rd, this service was held under the theme of 'Five Senses Tour: Emotional Healing for People with Disabilities' at Shincheonji Cheongju Church shelter and Cheongnamdae area with a travel programme and table tennis coaching.

On that day, about 10 beneficiaries from the province, including social volunteers such as Myeon-seop Song, head of Arirang Culture and Arts, Ju-yeon Han, head of Sajik Neighbourhood Association, and members of the Welfare Committee for Persons with Physical Disability in North Chungcheong, took part in the emotional wellbeing programme.

Myeon-seop Song, director of Arirang Culture and Arts, who participated in the event, said, “I was impressed by the fact that each member of Shincheonji Volunteer Group served wholeheartedly, as if serving their own family member.”

The beneficiaries who participated in the volunteer service said in unison that they found emotional and physical comfort during the spring outing.

Cheol-min Go, who participated in the event that day, said, “I've been housebound due to recent pain in my legs and COVID-19, so it was good to be able to do some outdoor activity and move my body through table tennis coaching.”

Deok-nam Song, a member of the Welfare Committee for Persons with Physical Disability in North Chungcheong, was pleased, saying, “The weather was pleasant and I felt like I was kindly served and treated.”

Moo-gyeom Je, head of Shincheonji Volunteer Group Cheongju, said, “Shincheonji Volunteer Group Cheongju Branch will continue to deliver love to the local community and freely serve like the light, rain, and air. We will share our hearts through various activities, including donation events.”

Meanwhile, the Cheongju branch of Shincheonji Volunteer Group is also carrying out various volunteer projects and initiatives such as 'Wall Story' for the rejuvenation of dilapidated murals, 'Love for Country and Peace-Sharing', 'More the Better' for emotional wellbeing through the sharing of companion plants, and 'Green Nature' for environmental protection.
