Shincheonji Volunteer Group Holds Contest with Members of Chungju Lawn Balls Association for People with Disabilities
[Cheonji Ilbo = Reporter Hyeon-bok Lee] Shincheonji Volunteer Group Chungju Branch (Director Jae-joon Oh) held a Yut Nori (traditional Korean game) throwing contest with members of Chungju Lawn Balls Association for People with Disabilities on the 16th as a 'pinky promise' volunteer activity.
Each finger serves a different role, but they are all precious and necessary. In the same way, this volunteer activity promotes the importance of recognising people with disabilities as members of society and breaks down the barriers between people with disabilities and those without in order to create a society of oneness.
The Yut Nori Contest, which was held at the Lawn Balls Association for People with Disabilities in Chungju City, was conducted as a tournament, with members of Shincheonji Volunteer Group and 30 members of Chungju Lawn Balls Association for People with Disabilities divided into 8 teams of 4 each.
One member who participated in the Yut Nori Contest said, “When we play yut nori among one another, it can be uncomfortable and a challenge to collect the yut thrown on the floor and move the pieces on the board. Thank you so much for helping us enjoy the game.”
Hyung-seok Seo, president of the Lawn Balls Association for People with Disabilites, said, “I am very happy to see the members having fun through the Yut Nori Contest, and I am so grateful for volunteers' assistance in helping prepare everything from snacks to the overall preparation of the Contest.”
The Chungju branch of Shincheonji Volunteer Group and the Chungju Lawn Balls Association for People with Disabilities have been maintaining a steady relationship since 2014, conducting all voluntary activities for the Lawn Balls Association on an annual basis, and rejuvenating lawn ball members through regular voluntary activities held twice a month.
In addition, various volunteer initiatives and projects such as 'Health Doctor (Medical Volunteer Service)', 'Wall Story (Mural Volunteer Service)', and 'Sharing Love for Peace and Nation' are being carried out.
