Shincheonji Volunteer Group and Gimhae Disabled People's Association Embark on 'Five Senses Tour' in Korea
✦ Healing through 'Five Senses Tour'
[Cheonji Ilbo = Correspondent Min-hee Kim] Shincheonji Volunteer Group (Gimhae Branch, Headed by Jin-hoon Kim) warmed hearts through a 'five senses tour' of various attractions with members of Gimhae Disabled People's Association.
Shincheonji Volunteer Group, Gimhae Branch, conducted its '8th Visiting Doctors' initiative on the 2nd April. The 'Visiting Doctors' initiative is a project designed to help overcome the pandemic caused by the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19), providing a platform for people with disabilities and none to communicate in order to take care of the mental wellbeing of the marginalised and isolated.
On that day, Shincheonji Volunteer Group went on a spring outing with members of the Gimhae Disabled People's Association, who have been unable to leave their homes at ease during the Covid-19 pandemic. The tour included visits to 'Nakdong River Rail Park' and 'Hwapocheon Wetland Ecological Park', which are both popular tourist attractions in Gimhae. Located in Saengnim town, Gimhae, Nakdong River Rail Park crosses the Nakdonggang River and allows you to enjoy the beautiful scenery of the river. Hwapocheon Wetland Ecological Park, located in the town of Hallim, Gimhae is famous for its ecology museum and Ttukbang-gil trail, where you can observe various kinds of birds.
The director and president of Gimhae Disabled People's Association who attended said, “Thank you to Shincheonji Volunteer Group for your multi-faceted support through this 'Visiting Doctors' initiative. We ask for your cooperation and interest for similar projects in the future.”
Shincheonji Volunteer Group's Gimhae Branch is carrying out various volunteer activities, such as 'Visiting Health Doctor', 'Stories on the Wall (Mural Redesign)', 'National Love, Peace Sharing' and 'Pink Wrapping Cloth (Bento Lunchbox Preparation & Delivery)'. Since the outbreak of Covid-19, the group has been at the forefront in providing taxi and company sanitisation activities, and plans to continue practising a spirit of love, light and peace throughout the local community through various volunteer activities.
In other Shincheonji-related news, 3741 congregants of Shincheonji Daegu Church, who had contracted Covid-19 and recovered, donated their blood plasma over three rounds in an effort to help develop treatment for COVID-19. Of this figure, 1561 donors donated their blood plasma more than twice. Mr. Jun-wook Kwon, Deputy Head of the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency (KDCA), expressed his gratitude to donors in person in November 2020, saying, “The blood plasma donation by believers of Shincheonji Church, who have now recovered from COVID-19, will make an indelible contribution to overcoming this pandemic and, eventually, will eradicate it. We hope that the voluntary and active example set by Shincheonji Church members today will serve as an example to all citizens.” The KDCA has confirmed that it is expected to secure blood plasma treatment to potentially alleviate the suffering of many Covid sufferers in Korea and beyond.
