Shincheonji Volunteer Group, Ansan Branch, Awarded '2022 Ansan City Volunteer Center Chairman's Commendation'
[Cheonji Ilbo Ansan = Reporter Jeong-ja Kim] Shincheonji Volunteer Group, Ansan Branch, received a commendation from the Chairman of Ansan City Volunteer Center at the Excellence in Volunteering Awards ceremony hosted by Ansan City Volunteer Center on the 26th.
The Ansan Branch of Shincheonji Volunteer Group received a commendation from the chairman of Ansan City Volunteer Center in recognition of their swift response and leadership to the 420mm of heavy flooding in Ansan in August 2022.
Among the 100 organisations that participated in the volunteers awards ceremony were Shincheonji Volunteer Group Ansan Branch, the Yard Volunteer Group, the Korea Freedom Federation Ansan Branch, the Ansan City Women's Association Council, Ansan City Crime Prevention Headquarters, Korea Gas Technology Corporation, Ansan Urban Development Inc., and Ansan City Corporation.
At the awards ceremony, Chairman Hee-seong Hong said, “I would like to thank every one of you who has volunteered in every place that needs help. Thank you again for working together for the sake of the local community. I can only feel warmth and gratitude.”
The Ansan branch of Shincheonji Volunteer Group, who received the chairman's commendation, said, “We still vividly remember the destruction on site. Even though the restoration of houses, farms and rivers, and the disposal of waste was difficult work, it was rewarding, so this award is meaningful as it encourages people and organisations to put more effort into volunteering. We will work harder and continue directing our efforts to looking after our neighbours in need.”
Given that the COVID-19 outbreak is still ongoing, attention has been given to whether Shincheonji Volunteer Group, which visits dangerous and onerous places out of love for its neighbours, and the noble spirit of local volunteer groups will continue to lead the community forward.
Meanwhile, the Ansan branch of Shincheonji Volunteer Group was awarded the 'Social Development Award' that lit up Korea, for initiatives including the Ansan Volunteer Center 'wall-painting story', the 6.25 Korean War veterans' COVID-19 de-sanitation and disinfection, 'Sharing Hope for More', and the blood donation campaign. It has served as a role model for the local community by winning the grand prize in the category.
