Shincheonji Volunteer Group and the Seoul Association for People with Disabilities collaborate on road safety campaign in Yeongdeungpo, Korea
✦ Joint collaboration for road safety campaign at intersection of Yeongdeungpo Police Station, Seoul, on 10th May
[Cheonji Ilbo = Reporter Min-hee Kim] The Yeongdeungpo branch of Shincheonji Volunteer Group launched a single day road safety campaign with the Seoul Association for People with Disabilities in Yeongdeungpo, Seoul, on the 10th May, on the same day as the inauguration ceremony of the 20th president-elect. This campaign was previously suspended due to the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19), and has now resumed.
On that day, Shincheonji Volunteer Group, together with 40 people with disabilities, guided vehicles and pedestrians at the intersection of Yeongdeungpo Police Station, and also cleared away the litter strewn in a flower bed in front of Yeongdeungpo District Council.
Gyeong-il Han, president of the Yeongdeungpo branch of Seoul Association for People with Disabilities, said, “It is more important that (people with disabilities) remain active than still.”
He continued, “We want to create a road safety culture in which the flow of heavy moving traffic at this intersection, together with pedestrians enroute to the National Assembly Boulevard, can be managed on the day of the presidential inauguration.”
An official from Shincheonji Volunteer Group said, “In addition to this campaign, we plan to contribute through various social activities.”
