What is the 'locust' in Revelation 9?
📰The Bible is one of the best-selling and most widely distributed books in history, yet it is also considered to be among the least understood. The Bible, which is referred to as the New Covenant and Promise of God, in which 'the way to heaven and salvation' is presented, differs in theologians' interpretations that make it difficult to understand. These differing interpretations have been the cause of the rise of denominations with each one establishing their own doctrine. With the increase in online church services and gatherings resulting from the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, there has been growing interest in the comparison of various church doctrine. This paper, therefore, attempts to provide readers with the opportunity to compare differing Biblical teachings without interpretation. Among a host of online sermons and Bible-based teachings, the contrasting doctrine between the established Church and Shincheonji Church of Jesus, which has drawn public interest throughout the Covid-19 pandemic, is hereby compared and summarised. Best efforts have been made to provide a summary of Shincheonji Church of Jesus' understanding of the Bible. Judgment as to what is right or wrong is left to the reader’s discernment.
Now, let's take a look at why the locusts are the destroyers through the Bible.
God said that the secrets of the kingdom of heaven in the Bible are hidden in parables, so that no one in the world can know them. The secrets of the kingdom of heaven, hidden in parables, come true at an appointed time when the prophecies in the Word are fulfilled.
Today's reference is the book of Revelation, which is a prophetic book in the New Testament that will fulfil in the future. Its meaning is not literal; it has spiritual content that is likened to its physical characteristics. In the Bible, God's chosen people are spoken of as grass, wood, or ripe grain. As a real locust gnaws on grass or wood, God in Joel 1:2-7 refers to the house of Israel as a vine and a fig tree, and likens them to a locust that has destroyed them. In other words, the destroyer who destroys God's people is likened to a locust. Then, what is the reality of the figurative locust in Revelation 9?
As a result, in Revelation 13, the beast with seven heads and ten horns that comes up from the sea enters the tabernacle of the seven golden lampstands, fights with the chosen people, defeats them and takes them captive.
The chosen people in the tabernacle of the seven golden lampstands who are captured are judged and destroyed in Revelation 6, 8, 9, and 16. The locusts in Revelation 9 refer to the Gentile destroyers who swallow up the tabernacle of the seven golden lampstands whom Jesus had been with. These are false shepherds God uses as the destroyer, and in Revelation 2 they are called Nicolaitans, and in Revelation chapters 12, 13, and 17 they are called the red dragon, a beast with seven heads and ten horns belonging to the devil.
Then, where is the abyss from which the locusts, the destroyer, came from, and what is the same authority the scorpions received? The abyss is the place where the dragon is captured and imprisoned in Revelation 20:2~3, which is the place where Satan the devil resides and it refers to the church of the destroyers. And just as the power of a scorpion is in its sting, the power of locusts is the doctrine of Satan which has the power to kill the spirits of people. False shepherds like locusts, despised, cursed and destroyed the tabernacle of the seven golden lampstands that God had established through His teaching authority, and they asserted their own teaching authority to rule over the chosen people and make them their own. As a result, the chosen people of the tabernacle of the seven golden lampstands suffer in their hearts. How painful was this pain that they would ask to die?
However, even if they want to die, it is written that death eludes them, so we can understand how painful this will be.
Where could a grasshopper look like this, and where else could there be such an armoured vehicle? This is a metaphor. Its reality today is speaking of the destroyers who established their own position, pretending to be the chosen people, and are armed with the doctrine of the destroyers.
Also, the tail refers to the false shepherd, and the sting represents the doctrine of Satan that kills people's spirits.
The king of these locusts is the head shepherd who commands the false shepherd. Because this king is the destroyer who swallowed up the tabernacle of the seven golden lampstands, Revelation 17 calls her the prostitute riding on a beast with seven heads and ten horns.
In Revelation 9, it is said that locusts harm those who are not sealed by God. Today, the promised pastor of Shincheonji is sealing those who are not sealed by testifying the fulfilment of the events recorded in the Book of Revelation that he saw and heard at the location of the events. I hope that you will become someone who has the word of God engraved on your mind and heart and reach the hope of heaven and eternal life without receiving the untruths of the locust-like false shepherds.
“When the locusts came to the earth from the mist of smoke, they were given power like that of scorpions on the earth. What are locusts? A locust is, literally, a grasshopper.
Locusts have a yellowish tint. When the locusts come, they gnaw at the leaves once and they eat them like this and like that. Everything that is green is a bud, whether it is a plant, food, or a tree. And he tells them not to harm the grass of the earth or any plant or tree, but only those people who do not have the seal of God on their foreheads. Now look. What do caterpillars do? A grasshopper eats grass. It must eat grass. So who is it going to eat now? A person.”
Pastor B, Presbyterian Church
“What this locust is talking about now is a grasshopper. Think of it as a grasshopper belonging to the grasshopper family. He showed what would happen two thousand years later to John, like a bushman who had no concept of material civilisation two thousand years ago and knew nothing. It showed the situation of war. Here we are now talking about locusts. A 'locust' refers to an armoured personnel carrier. I know this for sure because the Lord revealed it to me. This is an armoured vehicle. The reason I can say this definitively is because I received a clear revelation from the Lord.”
