Who is 'someone like a son of man' in Revelation 1?
📰The Bible is one of the best-selling and most widely distributed books in history, yet it is also considered to be among the least understood. The Bible, which is referred to as the New Covenant and Promise of God, in which 'the way to heaven and salvation' is presented, differs in theologians' interpretations that make it difficult to understand. These differing interpretations have been the cause of the rise of denominations with each one establishing their own doctrine. With the increase in online church services and gatherings resulting from the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, there has been growing interest in the comparison of various church doctrine. This paper, therefore, attempts to provide readers with the opportunity to compare differing Biblical teachings without interpretation. Among a host of online sermons and Bible-based teachings, the contrasting doctrine between the established Church and Shincheonji Church of Jesus, which has drawn public interest throughout the Covid-19 pandemic, is hereby compared and summarised. Best efforts have been made to provide a summary of Shincheonji Church of Jesus' understanding of the Bible. Judgment as to what is right or wrong is left to the reader’s discernment.

In Revelation 1:9 onwards, on the Lord's Day, Jesus' disciple, the Apostle John, was moved by the Holy Spirit and heard a loud voice like a trumpet. When John looked back, he saw someone like the Son of Man among the seven golden lampstands.
Let's take a look at this human-like figure. He is dressed in clothes reaching down to his feet, and has a golden sash (belt) around his chest, and the hair on his head is white like wool and as white as snow. His eyes are like blazing fire, and his feet are like bronze glowing in a furnace. It is said that he holds seven stars in his right hand, and from his mouth comes a double-edged sword, and his face shines like the brilliance of the sun. Does this look like a human figure? This is Jesus who has come in the form of a spirit.
When John fell at his feet as if someone dead, this 'someone like a Son of Man' raised him up, placed his hand on his head, and introduced himself. After introducing himself, John was then commanded to write letters to the angels (messengers) of the seven churches. This Son of Man is Jesus Christ. If you read John's letters, it says seven times that it is the 'Spirit' that is telling the churches to listen to what he is saying. Therefore, it can be clearly seen that the Son of Man who commanded John to send the letters is not flesh, but the body of the Holy Spirit.
However, there is a question that can be raised here. John was a disciple of Jesus. Why, then, did he not recognise Jesus, and say that he was someone 'like' a Son of Man, and not the Son of Man himself?
The reason is that the form of Jesus that appeared among the lampstands was not the physical form of Jesus who had been on the earth. He now had the same form as the transfigured image of Jesus shown to the disciples on the Mount of Transfiguration 2000 years ago. When Jesus resurrected, he resurrected with a spiritual body and appeared to many disciples, though the disciples did not recognise Jesus.
The only person who has mastered the secrets of heaven is John who received and ate the opened book of Revelation given through the angel in Revelation chapter 10. Only John becomes the true shepherd (pastor) who can preach the word of revelation to many peoples, nations, languages and kings. You must first know who has been chosen by this 'someone like a Son of Man' because this person is someone who has mastered the secrets of heaven.
An arbitrary interpretation of the Bible is a false doctrine given by the devil and is a lie that turns people away from the path of heaven to the path that leads to hell. Jesus revealed the secrets of heaven to the one he chose - that is, John. This is why the testimony of the witness who has seen and heard is true.
