What is the True Meaning of the Sacrament of 'Communion' Eating the Bread and Wine?

by - 13:05

📰The Bible is one of the best-selling and most widely distributed books in history, yet it is also considered to be among the least understood. The Bible, which is referred to as the New Covenant and Promise of God, in which 'the way to heaven and salvation' is presented, differs in theologians' interpretations that make it difficult to understand. These differing interpretations have been the cause of the rise of denominations with each one establishing their own doctrine. With the increase in online church services and gatherings resulting from the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, there has been growing interest in the comparison of various church doctrine. This paper, therefore, attempts to provide readers with the opportunity to compare differing Biblical teachings without interpretation. Among a host of online sermons and Bible-based teachings, the contrasting doctrine between the established Church and Shincheonji Church of Jesus, which has drawn public interest throughout the Covid-19 pandemic, is hereby compared and summarised. Best efforts have been made to provide a summary of Shincheonji Church of Jesus' understanding of the Bible. Judgment as to what is right or wrong is left to the reader’s discernment.

Are you familiar with Leonardo da Vinci's 'The Last Supper'?

This is a scene where Jesus celebrates the Passover with twelve disciples the night before he bore the cross and died roughly 2000 years ago. Today, in Christianity, this event is celebrated and recognised as a sacrament. But the word 'sacrament' does not appear in the Bible. In Luke 22:15, Jesus said that he eagerly desired to eat this Passover. To know the correct meaning of this gathering, we must first understand the meaning of the Passover.

About 3500 years ago, God inflicted ten plagues on Egypt to bring the Israelites out of Egypt, and the last plague was the death of the firstborn. At that time, the Israelites were able to escape Egypt by eating the actual flesh of a lamb and applying blood on their doorposts.

In other words, all that was needed to be saved was the flesh and blood of a lamb. God commanded that the Passover be kept as a commemoration for future generations. That was not the reality itself, but a copy and shadow of what was to come.

Let's look at how the true reality of Passover appeared at the time of the first coming.

At the time of the first coming, in John 1:29 and 1 Corinthians 5:7, Jesus was likened to the Passover Lamb. Moreover, in John 6:51-57, Jesus said that he was the living bread that came down from heaven, and that his flesh and blood was the food of eternal life.

It was made known at the time of the first coming that Jesus was the Passover Lamb whose flesh and blood - that is, the word of life spoken by Jesus - when eaten, could lead one to salvation in the same way that the flesh and blood of a physical lamb was necessary for salvation at the time of Moses. To the people of Jerusalem who were spiritually dead because of Satan's Pharisees, Sadducees and Teachers of the Law, Jesus delivered the word of life and led them to God.

This was the true reality of the Passover at the time of the first coming.

However, the Jews who did not understand the true meaning of the Passover at the time of Moses and only kept the feasts, were ignorant of this prophecy and did not believe in Jesus, who was the reality of the promised Saviour. Instead, they persecuted and killed him.

On the night before the crucifixion, in Luke 22:16-20, Jesus made a new covenant (promise) that when the kingdom of God is fulfilled, one would eat Jesus' flesh and blood again. Until then, they were told to commemorate the Passover with bread and wine.

Then, when and where will the kingdom of God in Luke 22 appear?

At the time of the Lord's Second Coming, when the book of Revelation is fulfilled, the seven messengers of the seven stars, the seven golden lampstands first appear in Revelation 1, and in Revelation 2-3, these seven messengers betray. They are destroyed by a beast with seven heads and ten horns, and all come to ruin.

This is the fall of the kingdom of God. At this time, the male child in Revelation 12, who saw and heard everything within heaven's tabernacle, fights and overcomes this beast of destruction with the blood of the Lamb - the words of Jesus - and the word of their testimony (witness to what was seen and heard), and creates a new kingdom of God. This is when the work of salvation begins.

The male child in Revelation 12 is the messenger of Jesus in Revelation 22:16, who receives the opened word of revelation in Revelation 10, and harvests and seals believers in Revelation 7 and 14 to create the kingdom of God and spiritual new Israel - the 144,000 and the multitude in white of the 12 tribes. The 144,000 are the kingdom and priests purchased by the blood of Jesus in Revelation 5:9-10, and the multitude in white are people washed with the blood of Jesus in Revelation 7:14. They become the promised new kingdom and new people of God at the time of the fulfilment of the Lord's Second Coming. The blood that Jesus shed on the cross 2000 years ago is for these people.

In summary, the true meaning of this 'sacrament' is to hear the true flesh and blood of Jesus - that is, Jesus' word of revelation (revealed word) - through the promised pastor, who is the one who overcomes, and live eternally as the 12 tribes of God's kingdom at the second coming of the Lord.

"The food of the sacrament is eaten to commemorate the flesh and blood of Jesus. Place your hands on any sickness and pray. There will be healing."

"If sick, place your hand on them. Otherwise, place your hand on your chest. Jesus, the Almighty Father, bore our sins 2000 years ago and carried our sickness on his shoulders. Sickness has already gone. Sickness is false and vain. It is the devil's manipulation. We must believe what in healing in the name of Jesus. You evil spirit, our enemy - be gone! Take your lies and be gone! We declare healing from cancer, healing from sciatic nerve pain, healing from arthritis of the knee, healing from hypertension, epilepsy, the intestines. I command healing in the name of Jesus. A miracle will happen. It will be so if you believe. I believe that God the Father will heal you in the name of Jesus and that amazing miracles will happen."
