What is the True Meaning of 'Hades' in Revelation Chapter 6?
📰The Bible is one of the best-selling and most widely distributed books in history, yet it is also considered to be among the least understood. The Bible, which is referred to as the New Covenant and Promise of God, in which 'the way to heaven and salvation' is presented, differs in theologians' interpretations that make it difficult to understand. These differing interpretations have been the cause of the rise of denominations with each one establishing their own doctrine. With the increase in online church services and gatherings resulting from the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, there has been growing interest in the comparison of various church doctrine. This paper, therefore, attempts to provide readers with the opportunity to compare differing Biblical teachings without interpretation. Among a host of online sermons and Bible-based teachings, the contrasting doctrine between the established Church and Shincheonji Church of Jesus, which has drawn public interest throughout the Covid-19 pandemic, is hereby compared and summarised. Best efforts have been made to provide a summary of Shincheonji Church of Jesus' understanding of the Bible. Judgment as to what is right or wrong is left to the reader’s discernment.
Hades is also mentioned in Revelation 6.
The book of Revelation is a prophetic book written about 2,000 years ago by Apostle John, one of Jesus' 12 disciples. This book of Revelation was spread throughout the world through the sacrifice of many people. As was promised, in Matthew 13:34-35, Jesus came to speak about secrets recorded in parables that had been hidden since the creation of the world, to be passed on to future generations. John 16:25 says that these hidden secrets would be revealed at the appointed time. Now is the time of the fulfilment of the Book of Revelation, when these prophecies are revealed. Shincheonji is plainly testifying to the meaning (reality) of these parables through the promised pastor who has seen and heard the fulfilment of the Book of Revelation.
In Revelation 6, Jesus opened the seven seals one-by-one and judged the chosen people who had betrayed in Revelation 2~3 through the four living creatures and horses of heaven's army. What are the living creatures? Judging from the fact there are tens of millions of eyes, or angels, surrounding these four living creatures, these four living creatures can be understood to be four archangels - the commanders of God's army who command heaven's army. Surrounding these four living creatures are supporting angels. The spirits in the centre of, and surrounding, God's throne fulfil God's command by working though the hearts of believers on the earth. Therefore, they become the riders and man become the horses. The two become one and judge the chosen people who betrayed.
Therefore, in Revelation 6, the rider on the pale horse is named death, which is not the rider's actual name but the name given to the person who has the mission to kill. The pale horse and its rider had the duty to judge the chosen people who did not repent after they betrayed the Lord by breaking the covenant. This is why the rider is named 'death'. What is 'Hades' that follows this rider? As the roots of the word implies, Hades is a place of darkness void of light.
In the Bible, the light is God and darkness is Satan. Therefore, the place where God, who is the light is, is heaven, and the place where Satan, who is darkness, is hell. In Isaiah 14, it was recorded that the place where the morning star, son of the dawn, who is Satan who resisted the Most High God, would be judged is in the depths of the pit. In 2 Peter 2:4, it was said that the angels who sinned were not forgiven, but were thrown into hell and chained in darkness to be kept until judgment. According to these words, Hades is referring to hell.
"Just reading about the words concerning the appearance of the pale horse in Revelation 6 gives me goosebumps.
This pale horse was ridden by a man named 'Death' and 'Hades'. A grave is a cemetery. How many people have died in wars for Death and Hades to be coming after them? Many people die in war, and it's war that causes economic breakdown and the death of so many people.
The aftermath of wars and famines leaves more and more people prone to death. Therefore, the Lord warned us that nation will rise against nation and kingdom against kingdom, and that there would be famines and earthquakes in various places, all of which are calamities (Matthew 24:7, 8).
They were given authority over a fourth of the earth to kill with the sword, famine, death and by the beasts of the earth (Rev 6:8). There may only be a few left on the earth at this time, but one-fourth of the world's population is still a huge number. Therefore, the pale horse signifies a terrible disaster."
