What is the True Meaning of 'Eternal Life' Recorded in the Gospel of John Chapter 6? (Shincheonji Church)

by - 09:58

📰The Bible is one of the best-selling and most widely distributed books in history, yet it is also considered to be among the least understood. The Bible, which is referred to as the New Covenant and Promise of God, in which 'the way to heaven and salvation' is presented, differs in theologians' interpretations that make it difficult to understand. These differing interpretations have been the cause of the rise of denominations with each one establishing their own doctrine. With the increase in online church services and gatherings resulting from the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, there has been growing interest in the comparison of various church doctrine. This paper, therefore, attempts to provide readers with the opportunity to compare differing Biblical teachings without interpretation. Among a host of online sermons and Bible-based teachings, the contrasting doctrine between the established Church and Shincheonji Church of Jesus, which has drawn public interest throughout the Covid-19 pandemic, is hereby compared and summarised. Best efforts have been made to provide a summary of Shincheonji Church of Jesus' understanding of the Bible. Judgment as to what is right or wrong is left to the reader’s discernment.

"Original man from the beginning did not die. People died because of sin. Eternal life begins when God's spirit and our bodies (flesh) become one, eradicating sin and death"

Eternal life means that the body lives forever by becoming one with the Spirit of God.

God created the heavens and the earth and all things, creating man in the image and likeness of God, wanting creation to live forever. However, after Adam ate the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, man died. God could no longer be with sinners, so He left, and man's lifespan, void of God, was shortened to 120 years.

As we see in John 1, in the beginning, the Word was God and the Word was life and light. Therefore, God, who is the Word, is life, and God departing is the same as life departing. For man, therefore, the lifeline was broken. People have since lived and died.

However, God wrote the Bible to save us from the wages of sin, which is death, and give us eternal life. It is Jesus, the Son of God, who became flesh according to the Word. Jesus, who came to this earth 2000 years ago, spoke of eternal life in John 11:25-27 and John 8:51. The disciples believed, but the Jews did not and rather slandered Jesus as demon-possessed.

When will this promise of eternal life come true? In John 6:40, God's will is that whoever looks to and believes in the Son will have eternal life. That time is referred to as the 'last day'. Verses 39, 44, and 54 all refer to the 'last day'. These last days refer to the time of the Lord's Second Coming when the New Testament Revelation is fulfilled. This is our time today.

How is eternal life possible? In 1 Corinthians 15:51~54, God reveals His secret, 'All will be changed in a flash at the last trumpet'.

This last trumpet is the seventh trumpet we see in Revelation chapter 11. This means that those whose bodies have perished are resurrected into a spiritual body that will not perish, and those who are alive in the body (flesh) will inevitably be clothed in a spiritual body that will not perish.

Romans 8:9 reads, "If anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, they do not belong to Christ", and as we see in verse 11, if the Spirit of God who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in us, His Spirit will also raise our mortal bodies. When the eternal God dwells in us, the broken lifeline is reconnected, transforming our mortal body into an immortal one.

In order for God to return, the problem of sin must be resolved. This is why Jesus shed his blood on the cross to bear the sins of many people. He made a new covenant with that blood and promised forgiveness of sins for those who keep the new covenant at the Second Coming of the Lord.

At the Second Coming of the Lord, the seven messengers of the seven stars, the seven golden lampstands, prepare the way for the Lord, as seen in Revelation 1, 2 and 3. However, they betray the covenant with God and become one with the devil's pastor Nicolas, the destroyer, and come to an end. At that time, Jesus chooses one person who is not one with them, lays his hands on him and makes him his new pastor.

This chosen pastor is the one who overcomes with the blood of the Lamb and the word of testimony, fighting the group of the dragon to the point of death. This one who overcomes in Revelation 2~3 delivers the word of Revelation, a new covenant is established with the blood of Jesus, and God, Jesus and Heaven come down to the one who overcomes who receives the hidden manna, the white stone to judge, and an iron sceptre to rule all nations. As promised in Chapter 7, the blood of Jesus forgives sin, and these forgiven people are created to form the 12 tribes of spiritual new Israel.

These people are those who are harvested and sealed on Mount Zion in Revelation 14, the worshippers of God at the Temple of the Tabernacle of the Testimony in Revelation 15, and belong to the new heaven and new earth of Revelation 21, which are the 12 tribes of Shincheonji. These are the new kingdom and new people of God who have been forgiven by the blood of Jesus.

Moreover, as recorded in Revelation 20:2 and 20:4-6, the first resurrection and eternal life when God returns to the 12 tribes of Shincheonji and one's sins are forgiven by God, will come true after the dragon Satan, who is the devil and has deceived all nations for 6,000 years, is finally seized and locked away in Revelation. When God is with the people of the 12 tribes of Shincheonji, all tears are wiped away, and a world of eternal life is fulfilled where there is no more death, mourning, crying or pain.

"What happens in this world doesn't matter. The moment you die is when eternal life is given and when your eyes are open to experiencing the reality of eternal life. Death is a blessing"
Korean Presbyterian and Methodist Churches

Pastor A of the Presbyterian Church
"While living this life in this world, it's not that important how long we live or how much fun we have or even how well we live. We die. And the moment we die, we live forever."

Pastor B of the Methodist Church
"For those who believe in God, death is a completely different matter. Is everything over when we die? No. Death is just the beginning. I bless you to open your eyes to experience eternal life through death. It's really hard to understand that death can be a blessing, but no matter how rich or successful one is, that all ends when one's physical life ends. However, for those who possess eternal life, when one's physical life ends, the promise of eternal life will begin."
