Who or What is "The Man of Lawlessness" in 2 Thessalonians Chapter 2?
📰The Bible is one of the best-selling and most widely distributed books in history, yet it is also considered to be among the least understood. The Bible, which is referred to as the New Covenant and Promise of God, in which 'the way to heaven and salvation' is presented, differs in theologians' interpretations that make it difficult to understand. These differing interpretations have been the cause of the rise of denominations with each one establishing their own doctrine. With the increase in online church services and gatherings resulting from the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, there has been growing interest in the comparison of various church doctrine. This paper, therefore, attempts to provide readers with the opportunity to compare differing Biblical teachings without interpretation. Among a host of online sermons and Bible-based teachings, the contrasting doctrine between the established Church and Shincheonji Church of Jesus, which has drawn public interest throughout the Covid-19 pandemic, is hereby compared and summarised. Best efforts have been made to provide a summary of Shincheonji Church of Jesus' understanding of the Bible. Judgment as to what is right or wrong is left to the reader’s discernment.
The word 'betrayal' refers to the action of a person who turns away from the original Word of God. This is because the word is the way of faith (John 1:1). Furthermore, in 1 John 1:1 onwards, Jesus was called the 'word from the beginning' and called himself 'the way and the truth and the life' (John 14:6). To turn away from the Word is to turn away from God, who is spirit, and from Jesus, who is also spirit. Adam and Eve belonged to God, but because they accepted the serpent's words and abandoned God's word, they betrayed God. The act of betrayal, therefore, results from deception.
The Lord's Second Coming comes during the era of spiritual Israel, which Jesus created after he sowed the seed of the Word 2,000 years ago. At this time, spiritual Israel betrays due to corruption and distorts the word of God by teaching lies, straying from the correct path. This is an act of betrayal.
In Matthew 24, which predicts the time of the Lord's Second Coming, Jesus told his disciples that the temple would be destroyed without a single stone left on another. The disciples asked about the time of this destruction, and the signs of the Lord's coming and of the end of the age. Matthew 24, which is a prophecy about the Lord's Second Coming, records the answers to these questions. Firstly, Jesus warned against being deceived by others. Jesus said many people would come in his name to deceive, so those who deceive are not unbelievers, but pastors who testify about Jesus.
At this time, it was said that there would be war between kingdom and kingdom, and nation and nation. This is a battle between the kingdom and nation (people) of God - that is, the temple of God with their pastors and congregation members - and the kingdom and nation (people) belonging to the devil's pastor through a war of ecclesiastical authority and doctrine (war of words). It was prophesied that, at this time, the work of lawlessness would ensue and the destroyer would set himself up in God's holy temple, proclaiming himself to be God. In this war, the pastors and congregation members of God's tabernacle were defeated by the devil's pastor and his congregation, and were enslaved by them.
At this time, the betrayers are pastors and congregation members of the traditional church - those who had formerly belonged to heaven, but following the appearance of the destroyer, fell from heaven to earth. Like Adam they betrayed, as is recorded in the book of Hosea, because they were deceived by the serpent. Although they once started with the Holy Spirit, they returned to the flesh.
Just as the serpent, or Satan, fed the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil to Adam and Eve which destroyed them, today there is a destroyer who appears in the book of Revelation who destroys all nations by feeding them Satan's maddening wine of adultery. These are the devil's pastors, who use the devil's teachings (Revelation 2~3, Revelation 13, Revelation 17~18). At this time, as recorded in Matthew 24 and Revelation 13, God's chosen people are deceived and accept the enemy and his false doctrine, thereby betraying God and ultimately being put to an end by God.
"Fake believers fall apart. Certain events happen and such fakes are thrown out of the faith. This is 'betrayal' in the Bible. If you read the Bible as it is, this action translates to 'falling away'. That's because it includes both the positive and the negative.
What is 'falling away'? It means that fake believers walk away from the faith. People living in this era claim that there is salvation outside of Jesus. Even in Korea, does the World Council of Churches or New Creation Church or any other pastor of a megachurch go to Dongguk University and say, 'Salvation can even be found in Buddhism'?
Believers' true colours will be revealed on the day they fall away. Who is currently leading this work? It's the Pope. What is the Pope doing travelling from country to country? He's uniting religions."
