Who or What is "The Man of Lawlessness" in 2 Thessalonians Chapter 2?
📰The Bible is one of the best-selling and most widely distributed books in history, yet it is also considered to be among the least understood. The Bible, which is referred to as the New Covenant and Promise of God, in which 'the way to heaven and salvation' is presented, differs in theologians' interpretations that make it difficult to understand. These differing interpretations have been the cause of the rise of denominations with each one establishing their own doctrine. With the increase in online church services and gatherings resulting from the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, there has been growing interest in the comparison of various church doctrine. This paper, therefore, attempts to provide readers with the opportunity to compare differing Biblical teachings without interpretation. Among a host of online sermons and Bible-based teachings, the contrasting doctrine between the established Church and Shincheonji Church of Jesus, which has drawn public interest throughout the Covid-19 pandemic, is hereby compared and summarised. Best efforts have been made to provide a summary of Shincheonji Church of Jesus' understanding of the Bible. Judgment as to what is right or wrong is left to the reader’s discernment.

2 Thessalonians is a letter sent by Paul, a disciple of Jesus, to the Church in Thessalonica approximately 2,000 years ago. It consists of three chapters; two of which prophesy that the way to salvation at the Second Coming of the Lord will be fulfilled through the promised order of betrayal, destruction and salvation. Prophecy is the word given so that we can believe when that prophecy appears (John 14:29), and when it does appear, it does so according to the order written. This is why believers today, who are waiting for the Second Coming, must understand this way to salvation. Then, who are the betrayers, the destroyers and the saviour prophesied in the New Testament?
The word 'betrayal' refers to the action of a person who turns away from the original Word of God. This is because the word is the way of faith (John 1:1). Furthermore, in 1 John 1:1 onwards, Jesus was called the 'word from the beginning' and called himself 'the way and the truth and the life' (John 14:6). To turn away from the Word is to turn away from God, who is spirit, and from Jesus, who is also spirit. Adam and Eve belonged to God, but because they accepted the serpent's words and abandoned God's word, they betrayed God. The act of betrayal, therefore, results from deception.
There is another betrayal, which is the betrayal of the traditional churches. Tradition (傳統) refers to a man-made denomination handed down since ancient times. Because of the corruption within tradition, there is the work of betrayal that turns one away from the word of God. In every era, there is the work of betrayal due to corruption. However, rather than dwelling on the past, we should focus our attention on betrayal at the Second Coming. Who is the betrayer at the Second Coming of the Lord?
The Lord's Second Coming comes during the era of spiritual Israel, which Jesus created after he sowed the seed of the Word 2,000 years ago. At this time, spiritual Israel betrays due to corruption and distorts the word of God by teaching lies, straying from the correct path. This is an act of betrayal.

In Matthew 24, which predicts the time of the Lord's Second Coming, Jesus told his disciples that the temple would be destroyed without a single stone left on another. In this war, the pastors and congregation members of God's tabernacle were defeated by the devil's pastor and his congregation, and were enslaved by them.
In Matthew 24:29, it was said that the sun, moon and stars that belong to heaven would fall to the earth. Like Adam, who returned to the dust and became flesh, this man of heaven falls and becomes a man of the earth. In this way, Jesus spoke of signs that would mark the end of the church at the time of the second coming, and of the destruction of the corrupt world. After this, Jesus and his angels appeared and began to gather the children of God born of the seed of God from the east, west, north and south. This is the work of harvesting the good seed. These are the devil's pastors, who use the devil's teachings (Revelation 2~3, Revelation 13, Revelation 17~18). At this time, as recorded in Matthew 24 and Revelation 13, God's chosen people are deceived and accept the enemy and his false doctrine, thereby betraying God and ultimately being put to an end by God.
