What and Where is the 'Paradise' Jesus spoke of? (Shincheonji Church)
📰The Bible is one of the best-selling and most widely distributed books in history, yet it is also considered to be among the least understood. The Bible, which is referred to as the New Covenant and Promise of God, in which 'the way to heaven and salvation' is presented, differs in theologians' interpretations that make it difficult to understand. These differing interpretations have been the cause of the rise of denominations with each one establishing their own doctrine. With the increase in online church services and gatherings resulting from the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, there has been growing interest in the comparison of various church doctrine. This paper, therefore, attempts to provide readers with the opportunity to compare differing Biblical teachings without interpretation. Among a host of online sermons and Bible-based teachings, the contrasting doctrine between the established Church and Shincheonji Church of Jesus, which has drawn public interest throughout the Covid-19 pandemic, is hereby compared and summarised. Best efforts have been made to provide a summary of Shincheonji Church of Jesus' understanding of the Bible. Judgment as to what is right or wrong is left to the reader’s discernment.
In Revelation 6:9-11, the souls of the martyrs who were slain because of the word of God are under the altar. They ask God to avenge their blood and are given a white robe. Based on this, souls do not wait anywhere. One can see that they have entered the spiritual kingdom of heaven where God dwells.
In 2 Corinthians 12, Paul witnessed a man in Christ through a vision he received. It is recorded that this man was taken up to the third heaven - paradise - and heard words that were inexpressible. Therefore, the third heaven and paradise he was led up to are the same place.
Since Paul said, 'God knows whether he was in the body or outside the body', we can see that the third heaven, or paradise, where God is, is a spiritual heaven. In Revelation 21, the spiritual kingdom of heaven is called the holy city, New Jerusalem, and the holy city is the organisation of God, Jesus, the 12 apostles and souls of the martyrs. In Revelation 3:12 and 3:21, it is recorded that God's name, the holy city, the name of the city of New Jerusalem, and the new name of Jesus are written on the one who overcomes, and that they sit together on the throne of Jesus. That is to say that God, Jesus, and the kingdom of God - the spiritual kingdom of heaven - are with the one who overcomes.
Firstly, as recorded in Genesis 37, the place where the sun, moon, and stars are located is the sky, and Jacob's family - Israel - is called the sun, moon, and stars of the sky. Therefore, God's chosen people are the sun, moon and stars, and the place where the chosen people live is the sky. That is why the kingdom established on this earth - the tabernacle - is described as heaven. Today, in Revelation 13:6, the tabernacle in which the seven stars and seven gold lampstands work is called 'heaven'. The group of the dragon enters heaven's tabernacle and destroys it, and the sky disappears. In Revelation chapter 21, this heaven passing away is called the first heaven.
On the other hand, in Revelation 15, the tabernacle of testimony (witness) is opened after those who fought against the group of the dragon that swallowed heaven's tabernacle and defeated them, came out and gathered at the sea of glass. This place is also called heaven. This is the new heaven and new earth established by those who fought and overcame and came out. This spiritual heaven, where God is, is the third heaven.
This is the truth of chapter six of Matthew's Gospel, where it is written, 'your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.'
