What is the 'Daily Bread' Recorded in The Lord's Prayer, and Where Can I Find It?

by - 13:31

📰The Bible is one of the best-selling and most widely distributed books in history, yet it is also considered to be among the least understood. The Bible, which is referred to as the New Covenant and Promise of God, in which 'the way to heaven and salvation' is presented, differs in theologians' interpretations that make it difficult to understand. These differing interpretations have been the cause of the rise of denominations with each one establishing their own doctrine. With the increase in online church services and gatherings resulting from the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, there has been growing interest in the comparison of various church doctrine. This paper, therefore, attempts to provide readers with the opportunity to compare differing Biblical teachings without interpretation. Among a host of online sermons and Bible-based teachings, the contrasting doctrine between the established Church and Shincheonji Church of Jesus, which has drawn public interest throughout the Covid-19 pandemic, is hereby compared and summarised. Best efforts have been made to provide a summary of Shincheonji Church of Jesus' understanding of the Bible. Judgment as to what is right or wrong is left to the reader's discernment.

"Food for daily sustenance is food for the spirit, not for the body, and the 'daily bread' at the Second Coming is the 'hidden manna'"
Shincheonji Church of Jesus, the Temple of the Tabernacle of the Testimony

In the Lord's Prayer, which is the prayer that the Lord taught, he said, "Give us today our daily bread." Is this referring to food eaten with one's mouth? Why, then, in the same chapter of the Lord's Prayer (Matthew 6) is it written not to worry about what to eat, drink, or wear - things that even 'pagans' (gentiles) run after? What does this mean?

The first time 'daily food' appears in the Bible is at the time of Moses where manna and quail were physical foods eaten through one's mouth. The Jews (Israelites), who had been bound to the law for roughly 1500 years after the time of Moses, were always looking for food for the flesh, thinking of the manna given them by Moses in the past. To these Jews, Jesus told us not to work for food that spoils (perishes), but for the food of eternal life.

Jesus said that this bread is living bread that came down from heaven - the flesh and blood of Jesus - that when eaten gives life to the world and eternal life. Since God is the Word and Jesus is the Word, we can see that this flesh and blood are the words of eternal life that Jesus gives. The Jews misunderstood this and left, but Jesus' disciple, Peter, confessed that the Lord had the Word of eternal life. In other words, the daily bread of the first coming was the living bread that came down from heaven - the flesh and blood of Jesus - and the word of eternal life.

However, Jesus made a new covenant in front of his disciples on the night before he took up the cross, as seen in Luke 22, and said that his flesh and blood would not be eaten again until the Father's kingdom comes. He told his disciples to eat (literal) bread and wine as a commemorative act. This means that only at the time of the Second Coming can one eat the flesh and blood of Jesus, which is the daily bread.

Where can I find this 'daily bread'? Matthew, who wrote the Lord's Prayer, wrote in Matthew 24, which points to the time of the Second Coming, that a faithful and wise servant would come to give 'food at the proper time' to the members of the household. This food becomes the daily bread for the Second Coming today. Also, in Revelation 2, Jesus gives the hidden manna to the one who overcomes. This one who overcomes is the faithful and wise servant of the Lord's Second Coming, who gives this daily bread.

How can one receive this hidden manna and food for daily sustenance? In Revelation Chapter 5, there is a book sealed (hidden) with seven seals in God's right hand. Jesus takes this book and opens the seven seals in chapters 6 and 8, and in chapter 10, through an angel, it is given to a pastor who eats it and makes it known to many peoples, nations, languages and kings. The word of this sealed revelation (hidden manna) is opened and fed in Revelation Chapter 2, which is the daily food believers should eat today.

In the book of Revelation, there are also foods that should not be eaten - the wine of adultery, which is the food of Satan, fed by the prostitutes of Babylon in chapters 17 and 18. It is written that all nations have fallen from this maddening wine of adultery. This wine refers to an arbitrary interpretation of the Bible. Foreseeing this reality, Jesus commanded us to pray asking for daily bread. At this time, the Bible tells us that believers can only eat the true food when they meet the pastor who received the opened book of revelation that is given for one's daily sustenance.

"Car, clothes, mobile phone and house; for humans, nothing is more important than eating and living"
Full Gospel Denomination and Baptist Denomination

Pastor A of the Full Gospel Church
Daily bread refers to everything we need to live. One's method of transportation to church is one's daily bread. The clothes you are wearing is also one's daily style of life. Can I go to work without getting dressed? This is one's daily food. Since you need a house to rest in, a house is also one's daily food.

All we need to live on is daily bread. To pray for the Lord's daily bread is to pray for everything we need to live on. If I need a car to live, then I must pray for a car; if it's a mobile phone that I need to live, then I have to pray for that. If there is a house I need to live in, I must pray for a house. All of this is prayer for daily food.

Pastor B of a Baptist Church
Asking God for one's daily bread should not be considered a worldly prayer. There is nothing more important for the body of humans than to eat and live.

Even unbelievers read all the literary books that express their thoughts and minds. Nothing is as important to humans as eating and living. When hungry, if I don't even pray, then my longing for God will die. There is nothing more important than eating and living.

If you ask me honestly what the reason is for living as a pastor, I'd say there are many. However, if you ask me about the most fundamental part, this may hurt, but my issue of eating and living can be resolved through one's ministry.

In the contents of the Lord's Prayer, there is not much to pray about other than, 'Give us this day our daily bread'. Where else could there be a prayer as important as this? This is what I want to say.
