What is the 'first heaven and first earth', and the 'New Heaven and New Earth' in Revelation 21?
📰The Bible is one of the best-selling and most widely distributed books in history, yet it is also considered to be among the least understood. The Bible, which is referred to as the New Covenant and Promise of God, in which 'the way to heaven and salvation' is presented, differs in theologians' interpretations that make it difficult to understand. These differing interpretations have been the cause of the rise of denominations with each one establishing their own doctrine. With the increase in online church services and gatherings resulting from the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, there has been growing interest in the comparison of various church doctrine. This paper, therefore, attempts to provide readers with the opportunity to compare differing Biblical teachings without interpretation. Among a host of online sermons and Bible-based teachings, the contrasting doctrine between the established Church and Shincheonji Church of Jesus, which has drawn public interest throughout the Covid-19 pandemic, is hereby compared and summarised. Best efforts have been made to provide a summary of Shincheonji Church of Jesus' understanding of the Bible. Judgment as to what is right or wrong is left to the reader’s discernment.
Then, what are the heavens and earth that disappear? The prophecies in the Bible, which are the secrets of heaven, were hidden in parables (Matthew 13:34~35). Jesus also said that when the time comes, everything would be explained plainly (John 16:25).
In Genesis 37:9-11, the family of Jacob, God's people, are figuratively likened to the sun, moon and stars. God likens heaven and God's people in heaven to Jacob's tabernacle, where God dwelt, and to the sun, moon and stars of Jacob. Since God's chosen people, Israel, were figuratively likened to the sun, moon and stars, the place where the chosen people live becomes the sun, moon and stars.
Heaven in Revelation 21 refers to the tabernacle of the chosen people on the literal earth where God resides, and the earth refers to the chosen people who belong to this tabernacle of God. Therefore, the disappearance of the first heaven and first earth is the end of a corrupt era in which the tabernacle of God and the chosen people belonging to God betray and are destroyed by the Gentiles. The creation of a new heaven and a new earth is the creation of a new era, which is God's newly created new kingdom and new people through a newly chosen pastor (shepherd).
About 6,000 years ago, Adam ate the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil that God told him not to eat, and so God judged the world of Adam who sinned through a flood during the time of Adam's ninth generation, Noah. This marked the end of the former corrupt era and the creation of a new era.
After that, because of sin committed by Noah's son Ham, and Canaan and his descendants, God left Noah's world. God came to Noah's tenth generation, Abraham, with whom God made a covenant, and later came to Moses to judge the sinful world of Canaan through the physical Israelites. One world came to an end and passed away, and physical Israel became the re-created new era.
In addition, because of Solomon's sin, physical Israel was divided into north and south, and was destroyed by foreign (gentile) nations. As promised through the Old Testament prophets, the Messiah, Jesus, came and created spiritual Israel. Physical Israel then came to an end and passed away, and spiritual Israel was created.
At the time of the Lord's Second Coming, as seen in Revelation 1, seven stars who worked in the right hand of Jesus appeared. They were seven pastors who appeared in the tabernacle of the seven golden lampstands. In Revelation chapter 13, this tent is called 'heaven', and the chosen people belonging to this tent were called the 'earth'. However, these people broke the covenant with God and, as seen in Revelation 2–3, Jesus sent them letters through John, urging them to repent of their actions. They refused to do so. Therefore, in Revelation Chapter 13, they were destroyed by the group of the dragon that came out of the sea, which is the beast with seven heads and ten horns (organisation of pastors).
Since this newly created heaven and earth was created at the end of the Christian world, the end of the former era refers to the end of the Christian world that has lasted about 2,000 years since the first coming. As seen in Revelation 6, this marks the end of corrupt spiritual Israel today, and the select few chosen believers are harvested out of this world, and stamped with the seal of God to create a spiritual new Israel as recorded in Revelation 7. This is the end of the former era and the creation of a new era. Today, by ending the corrupt religious world, the first heaven and first earth passes away, and a new heaven and a new earth is created through a newly chosen pastor. This is God's will and purpose.
"The heavens and earth that God created in the beginning has become corrupt today. The earth has become polluted, and for this reason, all of the first heaven - sky - and earth is passing away. It's all passing away."
Pastor B of the Full Gospel Church
"The devil has cleared the sky and taken power of the air. This sky is the 'sky of birds' - that is, a 'new' sky where these birds dwell - and the 'sky of stars' where the stars dwell. Then there is an 'eternal heaven' which willl never pass away. This is true heaven. The starry sky was occupied by the devil. That sky is cleansed by God, and a new sky is created, and this earth is also cleansed by God to create a new earth."
