What is 'Ascending to Heaven' and the 'Open Door' in Revelation 4?
📰The Bible is one of the best-selling and most widely distributed books in history, yet it is also considered to be among the least understood. The Bible, which is referred to as the New Covenant and Promise of God, in which 'the way to heaven and salvation' is presented, differs in theologians' interpretations that make it difficult to understand. These differing interpretations have been the cause of the rise of denominations with each one establishing their own doctrine. With the increase in online church services and gatherings resulting from the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, there has been growing interest in the comparison of various church doctrine. This paper, therefore, attempts to provide readers with the opportunity to compare differing Biblical teachings without interpretation. Among a host of online sermons and Bible-based teachings, the contrasting doctrine between the established Church and Shincheonji Church of Jesus, which has drawn public interest throughout the Covid-19 pandemic, is hereby compared and summarised. Best efforts have been made to provide a summary of Shincheonji Church of Jesus' understanding of the Bible. Judgment as to what is right or wrong is left to the reader’s discernment.
In the Bible, there are words we pray for the kingdom of God to come (Matthew 6:10) and the word promises that the holy city will come down from heaven (Revelation 21:2). When did Apostle John ascend to heaven and why?
'After this I looked, and there before me was a door standing open in heaven. And the voice I had first heard speaking to me like a trumpet said, "Come up here, and I will show you what must take place after this." (Revelation 4:1)
It is written that there is an open door to heaven. In Revelation 4, heaven is the place where the throne of God in the spiritual world is located, and in Revelation 21 it says that there are twelve gates in the spiritual world of heaven. (v.10-13, 21).
“It had a great, high wall with twelve gates, and with twelve angels at the gates. On the gates were written the names of the twelve tribes of Israel” (Revelation 21:12).
The reason the things of heaven have been shown to one person in each era, is to testify to what has been fulfilled on the earth as it has been fulfilled in heaven.
“Each of the four living creatures had six wings and was covered with eyes all round, even under its wings. Day and night they never stop saying: 'Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord God Almighty, who was, and is, and is to come” (Revelation 4:8).
To this end, in the Lord's Prayer that Jesus taught, he said to pray that the will of God be fulfilled on the earth as it is in heaven, and that the kingdom of God in the spiritual world will come here. This is a teaching based on the Bible.
Only those who have seen and heard the events in the book of Revelation being fulfilled at the location of their fulfilment, that is, the witnesses, can testify to their reality. Those who have not seen or heard anything, yet speak, do so out of their own own volition.
Full Gospel Church
"As the gates of heaven are opened in grandeur, a trumpet-like voice is heard saying, 'Come up here'. This is God calling our churches up to go up into the air. The same prophecy is recorded in 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17.
Today, the church that has been filled with the Holy Spirit and is prepared with oil will go up into the air as the bride of Christ after the era of the Church passes away. That voice, like the sound of a trumpet, that calls John up, will suddenly be heard by us in the not-too-distant future, and we will be lifted up as well.
Just as when John looked up the gates of heaven were opened, so when we look, the gates of heaven will be opened, and we will be taken up by the Holy Spirit. Those who are not moved by the Holy Spirit cannot ascend. Those who have just come and gone to church out of formality will not be taken up.
An 'open door' refers to a church that preaches the gospel to evangelise."
