What are the 'Red Horse' and 'Black Horse' in Revelation 6?
📰The Bible is one of the best-selling and most widely distributed books in history, yet it is also considered to be among the least understood. The Bible, which is referred to as the New Covenant and Promise of God, in which 'the way to heaven and salvation' is presented, differs in theologians' interpretations that make it difficult to understand. These differing interpretations have been the cause of the rise of denominations with each one establishing their own doctrine. With the increase in online church services and gatherings resulting from the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, there has been growing interest in the comparison of various church doctrine. This paper, therefore, attempts to provide readers with the opportunity to compare differing Biblical teachings without interpretation. Among a host of online sermons and Bible-based teachings, the contrasting doctrine between the established Church and Shincheonji Church of Jesus, which has drawn public interest throughout the Covid-19 pandemic, is hereby compared and summarised. Best efforts have been made to provide a summary of Shincheonji Church of Jesus' understanding of the Bible. Judgment as to what is right or wrong is left to the reader’s discernment.
First, let's look at Revelation 1 to find out where the fulfilled events and the location of the events of Revelation 6 are.
The book of Revelation compiles all the words of Jesus' prophecy in the New Testament in one place. When this promise is fulfilled, the seven golden lampstands of the Tabernacle Temple prepare the way to announce the beginning of the events of Revelation - just like John the Baptist carried out the work of the lamp to prepare the way at the first coming of Jesus. This entity must appear first. The shepherds and congregation (chosen people) who made a covenant with Jesus here, became one with the foreign god as seen in Revelation 2~3 and committed an act of betrayal by receiving and eating food sacrificed to idols.
The place of fulfilment of the above event is the tabernacle of the seven golden lampstands of Revelation 2~3 that appears at the time of the Lord's Second Coming. This place is also known as the tabernacle of heaven in Revelation 13.
Let's take a closer look at how the judgment of the chosen people who betrayed in Revelation 6 was accomplished.
Jesus gave the order to judge, and the riders of the four living creatures and their horses carried out judgment. Those who were judged were the shepherds and chosen people who betrayed, and the instruments of judgment were bows, swords, scales, and beasts of the earth.
Let's learn about the four living creatures, horses, and riders in Revelation chapter 6. The four living creatures refer to the throne of heaven in the spiritual world in Revelation 4; specifically, they are archangels who command tens of millions of angels, like the commander of heaven's army who has many spirits around him at his service.
What are the words that come out when the four living creatures - the archangels - say 'Come!'? In Hebrews 1:14 of the New Testament, God sends and commands angels to work; and God uses them to ride on the winds (Hebrews 1:7), clouds (Isaiah 19:1), and horses (Hab 3: 8). In other words, the word refers to the angel that God and Jesus work with. Also, when the spirit enters the flesh and works, the spirit becomes the rider and the flesh assumes the same role as the horse.
Could it be that the sword Jesus gave was a physical sword? In Ephesians 6:12-17, it is said that you must put on the full armour of God and take the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God, in order to fight the devil and win in war. The instruments are not literal bows and swords, but God's words of judgment.
Therefore, in Revelation 6, the red horse that appears when the second living creature says 'Come!', and the rider on it with a large sword to take peace and make people kill each other, refers to the judgment of the chosen people - not to war or communism.
To recap the events of Revelation 6, Jesus judged the chosen people of the tabernacle of the seven golden lampstands - whom he had chosen in Revelation 1 - with the word through the four living creatures, the horses and riders, who were the army of heaven. Like Adam, they betrayed God and were cast out and hid in a gentile cave. This is the judgment in which the tabernacle of the chosen people and the people of heaven and earth disappear, and it is the end of the former world. True believers who were weighed on the scales and excluded from such judgment became the few remaining seeds of salvation and created the eternal 12 tribes of God's kingdom, as promised in Revelation 7.
In conclusion, the words appearing in Revelation 6 refer to angels belonging to the organisation of the four archangels who become one with the archangel and judge the chosen people who betrayed according to the command of Jesus.
Pastor A, Presbyterian Church
"The red horse is what happens when a conqueror rises up and strikes others, a war breaks out. It is a minor civil war where conquerors rise. A conqueror appears and war ensues; and when a war breaks out, there is a great war.
When you start a war, a red horse appears and spreads. When a civil war turns into a world war, and one country goes to war, it becomes a red horse."
Pastor B, Full Gospel Church
"Red horses represent war and blood. Now, a gruesome slaughter will take place. It also refers to red communism."
Pastor C, Presbyterian Church
"It describes the signs corresponding to famine among the signs in the end times. This is the symbol meaning of the black horse that I want to talk about."
Pastor D, Full Gospel Church
"What comes after war ends? There is a famine. After that, there is an economic crisis as many young people are sent to the front lines."
