What is the true meaning of the 'little opened scroll' in Revelation 10?
📰The Bible is one of the best-selling and most widely distributed books in history, yet it is also considered to be among the least understood. The Bible, which is referred to as the New Covenant and Promise of God, in which 'the way to heaven and salvation' is presented, differs in theologians' interpretations that make it difficult to understand. These differing interpretations have been the cause of the rise of denominations with each one establishing their own doctrine. With the increase in online church services and gatherings resulting from the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, there has been growing interest in the comparison of various church doctrine. This paper, therefore, attempts to provide readers with the opportunity to compare differing Biblical teachings without interpretation. Among a host of online sermons and Bible-based teachings, the contrasting doctrine between the established Church and Shincheonji Church of Jesus, which has drawn public interest throughout the Covid-19 pandemic, is hereby compared and summarised. Best efforts have been made to provide a summary of Shincheonji Church of Jesus' understanding of the Bible. Judgment as to what is right or wrong is left to the reader’s discernment.
Fortunately, however, Jesus took this scroll became he had overcome, broke its seals, opened it, and delivered it to John through an angel. The angel instructed John to eat it and go and tell it to the world. If this invaluable scroll has been delivered from heaven, shouldn't we know what this scroll is and what is written in it?
The opened scroll is the 'Book of Revelation' because it has been opened and shown.
Therefore, it can be seen that what is sealed is a prophetic book in which the history of the future is recorded. Until the time when the reality of the written prophecy is revealed, everything remains sealed with parables, so no one can understand it until the reality appears and is revealed.
Conversely, the opened scroll, or 'revelation', refers to seeing, hearing, and testifying to the reality of the prophecy hidden in parables when it is revealed at the appointed time. Therefore, the little opened scroll in the main reference is the word of revelation that testifies to its reality as prophesied in the Bible.
The reason God gave us prophecies was so that we could believe when they come true as in the words of John 14:29. However, if we do not receive the word of revelation, which is the opened scroll that comes down from heaven in Revelation 10, then even if the reality of the prophecy appears, one cannot recognise it. So, shouldn't believers also receive the message of this revelation? Let's find out how and through whom we can receive this revelation.
God planned in advance the process of delivering the revelations of the Old and New Testaments, and when the time comes, He fulfils them. First, let's look at the process of delivering the revelation of the Old Testament, and then look at the process of delivering the revelation of the New Testament.
So when would this sealed scroll be opened? In Habakkuk 2:2-3, this vision awaits an appointed time, and that is the time when the prophecy is fulfilled. When that time comes, according to Ezekiel 1-3, there will be the fulfilment of one who eats the opened scroll from heaven. That fulfilment was Jesus. The first coming of Jesus was the time when the prophecies of the Old Testament were fulfilled, as in John 19:30. At that time, God came to Jesus and gave him an opened scroll, the word of revelation, and instructed him to deliver it to the rebellious people of Israel, who had been taught only human commands.
In Matthew 11:27, it is said that no one knows God except the Son and those to whom the revelation is given according to the Son's wishes. In John 17:3, it is said that only by knowing the true God and Jesus can we gain eternal life. It is by receiving revelation through Jesus alone that one can receive salvation and eternal life and enter the desired kingdom of heaven.
Now, let's take a look at the all-important route of conveyance of the New Testament revelation. The process of delivering the revelation of Jesus in the New Testament is well described in Revelation 1:1. The order of delivery is from God-Jesus-Angel-John-Servants. First, Jesus took the scroll sealed with seven seals from God's hand in Revelation 5 because he had overcome, and he opened it in Revelation 6 and 8.
These servants are the 144,000 of the 12 tribes sealed in Revelation 7 and the multitude in white washed in the blood of Jesus. They are those who are sealed with the word of revelation and become the kingdom and people of God.
Therefore, as at the first coming, even at the second coming, when the prophecies of Revelation are fulfilled, one pastor of the promise must appear. This promised pastor is the only witness who saw and heard the events of the war in Revelation, and this promised pastor is the messenger of Jesus whom Jesus sent to testify the word of revelation to the churches.
Therefore, today, no one in the world can know the word of revelation other than through this promised shepherd. Also, it is said that those who hear and keep the word of revelation testified by this promised pastor are blessed. Every believer in the world can receive the blessing of salvation and eternal life and enter the desired kingdom of heaven only if they receive the word of revelation through the one promised pastor. It must be made plain and clear that there is one promised pastor at this time.
In the Old Testament, before receiving the prophet's mission, God gave us a scroll and told us to eat it. Likewise, by telling John to eat, Jesus let John speak the words of prophecy for the next three and a half years.
After the three and a half years, the world will end, the Millennial Kingdom will come, and the everlasting world of the new heaven and new earth will come, and those words are incomparably sweeter. But on the other hand, in the next three and a half years, the Antichrist will rise up as a beast and commit atrocious deeds and not only kill many Jews, but also all those who do not bow down to him.
At that time, the scroll was so bitter to John when he thought of the terrible tribulation and suffering of unrepentant mankind.”
