📰The Bible is one of the best-selling and most widely distributed books in history, yet it is also considered to be among the least understood. The Bible, which is referred to as the New Covenant and Promise of God, in which 'the way to heaven and salvation' is presented, differs in theologians' interpretations that make it difficult to understand. These differing interpretations have been the cause of the rise of denominations with each one establishing their own doctrine. With the increase in online church services and gatherings resulting from the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, there has been growing interest in the comparison of various church doctrine. This paper, therefore, attempts to provide readers with the opportunity to compare differing Biblical teachings without interpretation. Among a host of online sermons and Bible-based teachings, the contrasting doctrine between the established Church and Shincheonji Church of Jesus, which has drawn public interest throughout the Covid-19 pandemic, is hereby compared and summarised. Best efforts have been made to provide a summary of Shincheonji Church of Jesus' understanding of the Bible. Judgment as to what is right or wrong is left to the reader’s discernment.
When the angel opens the scroll and gives a loud shout, what are the seven thunders that concurrently shout?
In summary, the seven thunders of Revelation 10 refer to the seven spirits in front of the throne of God. They are the seven eyes that were with Jesus when he opened the sealed scroll. First, let's take a look at the process of the open scroll that was given to the angel in Revelation 10. In Revelation 1:1, we see the route of conveyance of revelation.
This revelation is from Jesus Christ, which God gave Jesus to fulfil in order to show his servants what must soon take place. It was then given to his servant John through an angel and the angel's command.
Looking closely, there was a scroll sealed with seven seals in God's right hand in Revelation 5. This scroll is the promise of the New Testament, the sealed book of Revelation, which no one in heaven or on earth could open.
After Jesus took the sealed scroll and opened all its seals, Jesus gave the opened scroll to the angel, and the angel shouted out the words of the opened scroll with the seven thunders.
Then, who is the angel who came down from heaven in Revelation 10 that appears with the seven thunders? The appearance of the angel in Revelation 10 is very unique. Its appearance is like the image of God that the prophet Ezekiel saw in a vision, and the image of Jesus that John saw in a vision on the island of Patmos 2,000 years ago.
The reason that the angel in the main reference comes in the form of God and Jesus is because the angel is a messenger who has come with a special duty to deliver the words of God and Jesus.
This angel is the Counsellor, that is, the Holy Spirit of truth that Jesus promised 2,000 years ago.
Now, let's find out the reality of the thunders, the sound of the seven thunders, and the reason why John is told to seal the words instead of writing them down.
The reality of the seven thunders are the seven spirits before the throne of God. They are also called the seven eyes, who were present when Jesus opened the sealed scroll. Literal thunder is the sound of thunder from rain, lightning, and hail from the clouds. In the same way, the 7 Spirits shout out the words of the open scroll together with the angel in the main reference, and the sound is the sound of wrath to judge the sea and the land.
The words of wrath and judgment are not expressed quietly. That is why the seven spirits are called the seven thunders. These seven thunders in Revelation 10 sound the words written in the open scroll, that is, the words of revelation. The reason the angel commands John not to write down the sound the thunders make and to seal it, is because John must preach the words of the open scroll that he has received and eaten.
