📰The Bible is one of the best-selling and most widely distributed books in history, yet it is also considered to be among the least understood. The Bible, which is referred to as the New Covenant and Promise of God, in which 'the way to heaven and salvation' is presented, differs in theologians' interpretations that make it difficult to understand. These differing interpretations have been the cause of the rise of denominations with each one establishing their own doctrine. With the increase in online church services and gatherings resulting from the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, there has been growing interest in the comparison of various church doctrine. This paper, therefore, attempts to provide readers with the opportunity to compare differing Biblical teachings without interpretation. Among a host of online sermons and Bible-based teachings, the contrasting doctrine between the established Church and Shincheonji Church of Jesus, which has drawn public interest throughout the Covid-19 pandemic, is hereby compared and summarised. Best efforts have been made to provide a summary of Shincheonji Church of Jesus' understanding of the Bible. Judgment as to what is right or wrong is left to the reader’s discernment.
2000 years ago, Jesus spoke about the secret of the kingdom of heaven in parables in Matthew 13, and in John 16:25, he said that when the time comes, he would reveal the details about the Father plainly. As such, today is no longer the time for the word to be kept hidden in parables. This is because today is the time of the fulfilment of the Book of Revelation. We can understand all this clearly through the Promised Shepherd of Shincheonji.
The winds standing at the four corners of the earth in the text are not physical winds, but spiritual winds. In Revelation 7, it is said that the four angels hold back the four winds of the earth to prevent them from blowing. Who are the four angels and what are the four winds of the earth that they hold back, and what is the meaning and reason for holding back the four winds of the earth?
These four angels represent four living creatures around the throne of God in Revelation 4 - that is, four archangels. Zechariah 6:1 describes the four angels as four chariots, and verse 5 explains that they are the four winds. That is to say that the four living creatures, the four chariots, and the four winds are one and the same - they are archangels who rule over angels.
In summary, the wind refers to the many angels that belong to the four archangels, and the blowing of the wind refers to judgment through the angels.
Let's take a look through the text of the Book of Revelation to find out why the four winds of the earth were held back.
Firstly, in Revelation 1, the tabernacle of the seven golden lampstands chosen by God appeared. In chapters 2 and 3, the seven angels chosen by Jesus and the seven golden lampstands and their tabernacle did not repent after receiving Jesus’ letter, but became one with the false shepherds of the Nicolaitans, ate food sacrificed to idols, and committed adultery with Satan.
As a result, in Revelation 6, Jesus raised up the four archangels and made the horses, that is, angels, blow winds of judgment. As recorded in Revelation 6:12-17, the tabernacle of the seven golden lampstands that betrayed was judged and fell to the earth. The sun turned black like sackcloth, the moon became blood red, and the stars in the sky fell to the ground like a fig-tree shaken by a strong wind whose fruits fall.
The sun, moon and stars are spiritual, not physical. In Genesis 37:9-11, the sun, moon and stars symbolise Jacob's family - the chosen people - and the sky where the sun, moon and stars are signifies the tabernacle where God's chosen people reside. The sun is the shepherd who delivers the word of light, the moon is the evangelist who receives the light of the word from the shepherd, and the stars are the congregation members who receive the word from the evangelist.
After judging the tabernacle of the seven golden lampstands that betrayed in Revelation 6, the four winds of Revelation 7, the four archangels, hold back the four winds of the earth, that is, the angels, to stop them from carrying out judgment. As one era was judged and ended in this way, in Revelation 7, the four angels hold back the four winds while God's seal is engraved on God's newly created kingdom and people.
In summary, the four winds of the earth in Revelation 7 are numerous angels who belong to the four archangels, and the blowing of the wind is judgment carried out through the angels. This is the true testimony of the one who has seen and heard.
''It catches the wind of the earth and prevents it from exerting its power.
The 'wind of the earth' is given in reference to the children's song 'The Mountain Wind, the River Wind' by Seok-Jung Yoon. I think you probably know it well. 'The wind that blows from the mountain, the cool wind; that wind is a good wind, a grateful wind'. We think of wind as good and grateful, but for the Jews, it is a nonsensical story.
In particular, there is a hot wind called 'Sirocco'. What do you use to dry after washing your hair? Isn't it a dryer? But just imagine the hot air hitting your scalp because the hair dryer does something wrong. How surprising that the wind blows. We can think of typhoons or tornadoes in Korean. Of course, these winds are winds of destruction.
But those winds are being controlled by angels. Verse 1 again tells us that it caught the wind and prevented it from blowing. It is not known for sure whether this is a real wish or symbolic of other things that seek to harm people in order to judge, but no matter what it is, even though it has power, it is not being exercised by the control of angels. This is what we know.''
