📰The Bible is one of the best-selling and most widely distributed books in history, yet it is also considered to be among the least understood. The Bible, which is referred to as the New Covenant and Promise of God, in which 'the way to heaven and salvation' is presented, differs in theologians' interpretations that make it difficult to understand. These differing interpretations have been the cause of the rise of denominations with each one establishing their own doctrine. With the increase in online church services and gatherings resulting from the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, there has been growing interest in the comparison of various church doctrine. This paper, therefore, attempts to provide readers with the opportunity to compare differing Biblical teachings without interpretation. Among a host of online sermons and Bible-based teachings, the contrasting doctrine between the established Church and Shincheonji Church of Jesus, which has drawn public interest throughout the Covid-19 pandemic, is hereby compared and summarised. Best efforts have been made to provide a summary of Shincheonji Church of Jesus' understanding of the Bible. Judgment as to what is right or wrong is left to the reader’s discernment.
The book of Revelation is a book of prophecy given to you to believe in when it is fulfilled. When it was written, it was done so figuratively, using the names of people and places at that time, as shown in Hosea 12:10 and Revelation 11:8.
In Hosea 12:10, God said, "I spoke to the prophets, gave them many visions, and told parables through them." Moreover, in Revelation 11:8, it is written, "Their bodies will lie in the public square of the great city - which is figuratively called Sodom and Egypt - where also their Lord was crucified." You can see that a 'spiritual' reality is being spoken of here, using physical comparisons.
It is said, in the main reference, that the seven stars are in the right hand of Jesus. Are these seven stars physical stars? It wouldn't be an issue if this star were the size of a bean, but as far as we know, the stars in the universe are much larger than planet Earth. Of course, there are some that are smaller than the Earth, but could Jesus' hands be so large that he could contain seven stars within them? They can not be literal stars.
What is a star likened to in the Bible? In Genesis 37:9-11, Jacob and his family are likened to the sun, moon and stars, as are the chosen people of Israel. From this perspective, the star recorded in the book of Revelation is a spiritual star, not a literal one.
Therefore, it can be understood that the seven stars are seven messengers who work in the church as the seven golden lampstands, and become the seven messengers who prepare the way at the time of the Lord's return, like John the Baptist who prepared the way at the first coming of Jesus, as seen in John 5:35. The fact that these seven stars were in Jesus' right hand means that Jesus appointed them and worked through them.
What kind of mystery is hidden through these seven stars and seven messengers? There are three mysteries in the book of Revelation; the mystery of betrayal, the mystery of destruction, and the mystery of salvation. Of these three mysteries, the mystery of the seven stars is the mystery of betrayal - that is, betrayal of the covenant made with Jesus. In Revelation chapters 2 and 3, we see that John sent the prophetic letters of Jesus to these seven messengers, telling them that they had forsaken their first love, Jesus, and urging them to repent.
Why are these seven stars who betrayed a 'mystery'?
It is because neither the pastors of the world, nor the seven messengers themselves, knew that they were the promised messengers who had betrayed as recorded in the book of Revelation .
This mystery was revealed only to John by Jesus, so only John who saw and heard the fulfilled reality can testify to it.
Pastor A of the Presbyterian Church
"The seven stars are messengers of the seven churches. The leader of the church was called a star. Those who preach the word are the Seven Stars. There must be a messenger in the church of God. In order to be a church, there must be an angel of the Lord who is like the star who received the Word. The servants of the Lord are the seven stars that preach the word. The seven stars are those who are held in the right hand of the Lord. In the Lord's church, there must be an angel of the Lord who is used by the Lord's hand. There must be a man of God who is centred on the Lord - a messenger like a star.
The mystery of the seven stars speaks of the gospel.
The gospel is the mystery of the kingdom of heaven (Matthew 13:11), the mystery of Christ (Ephesians 4:3), and the mystery of faith (1 Timothy 3:9). The gospel is the mystery of the seven stars. Therefore, the messenger of the seven stars must possess the mystery of the gospel. The servants of the Lord are those who have received the mystery (1 Corinthians 4:1). You must have the mystery of the gospel to become the messenger of the seven stars. When you receive the Word, you become a messenger of God. A person without the Gospel cannot become a messenger of the seven stars.
Those who receive the gospel and receive the mission of the gospel become the messengers of the seven stars. In conclusion, the church of God must fulfil her mission as lampstands and the messengers of the seven stars. The messengers of the seven stars are always those who preach the mystery of the gospel."
