A cleanup activity was carried out in the Tongbok-dong area of Pyeongtaek-si, Gyeonggi-do to create a clean village environment to welcome the New Year.
The Shincheonji Volunteer Group Pyeongtaek Branch (Branch Manager Kim Jae-guk, hereinafter referred to as the Pyeongtaek Branch) conducted the ‘Natural Child Purja’ volunteer service in the Tongbok-dong area of Pyeongtaek-si, Gyeonggi-do on the 16th.
'Nature, Purja' is a volunteer activity regularly conducted by the Shincheonji Volunteer Group to pass on beautiful nature to the next generation, including environmental purification for the protection of major facilities and cultural assets, disaster and catastrophe environmental restoration activities, and flower path creation in areas where illegal dumping of trash occurred.
The area where the service was carried out that day is a place with a lot of traffic as there are large traditional markets and parks nearby. In particular, the nearby Tongbok Market is large with over 600 stores and a lot of floating population.

The Pyeongtaek branch collected illegally dumped or piled up trash in areas with frequent public access. The trash collected that day filled two 50L general volume bags and one 75L recycling bag.
In addition, a 'clean-up campaign' was carried out, painting environmental slogans around drains where there was a lot of illegal cigarette butt dumping. The Pyeongtaek branch used eco-friendly water-based paint to paint slogans such as 'Clogged drains are the main cause of flooding' near drains.
Mr. Park, a citizen who was watching the volunteer work that day, said, “It’s a shame that there are so many people these days who throw away trash, including dog poop,” and added, “I’ve often seen people volunteering (while passing by). I’m always grateful.”
A Pyeongtaek branch official said, “We are happy to be able to provide citizens with a pleasant and beautiful urban environment in the new year,” and “We will continue to do our best to create a better living environment together with citizens.”
