Shincheonji Church of Jesus Steps In to Address Persistent Blood Shortages in Uganda
Concerns over persistent blood shortages nationwide have again been raised by the Uganda Blood Transfusion Services (UBTS), attributing the crisis to a decline in donations during the long-term school holidays.
In Uganda, a minimum of 450,000 units of blood are required per year to save lives, based on the World Health Organisation’s recommendation of 1% of the population.
However, in January, the UBTS highlighted a 14% deficit in blood donation, which can only be addressed if more people step forward.
To address the existing deficit, the members of Shincheonji Church of Jesus in Uganda rolled up their sleeves to donate blood on 20th January.
During the donation, an official of Shincheonji Church of Jesus in Uganda highlighted the importance of giving blood:-
“Blood symbolises life. Donating it is a profound way to unite and support each other, especially in a world filled with division and conflict. Through this drive, we hope to help bridge the gap and save lives.”
Meanwhile, Shincheonji Church of Jesus in Uganda has been instrumental in organising blood drives since 2022, while fostering community spirit and service.
