π°The Bible is one of the best-selling and most widely distributed books in history, yet it is also considered to be among the least understood. The Bible, which is referred to as the New Covenant and Promise of God, in which 'the way to heaven and salvation' is presented, differs in theologians' interpretations that make it difficult to understand. These differing interpretations have been the cause of the rise of denominations with each one establishing their own doctrine. With the increase in online church services and gatherings resulting from the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, there has been growing interest in the comparison of various church doctrine. This paper, therefore, attempts to provide readers with the opportunity to compare differing Biblical teachings without interpretation. Among a host of online sermons and Bible-based teachings, the contrasting doctrine between the established Church and Shincheonji Church of Jesus, which has drawn public interest throughout the Covid-19 pandemic, is hereby compared and summarised. Best efforts have been made to provide a summary of Shincheonji Church of Jesus' understanding of the Bible. Judgment as to what is right or wrong is left to the reader’s discernment.
However, at the first coming, Jesus said in John 6 that these people ate the bread Moses gave them and died, but that the bread Jesus gives would not lead to death, but to eternal life.
Therefore, at the first coming, the words of Jesus were spiritual food that saves one's soul. This was the manna at the first coming. God is the Word, and Jesus is the Word. To eat the flesh and blood of Jesus is to hear and accept the word of life from Jesus.
In the days of Moses, the people ate manna, which was food for the flesh sent from heaven. But at the first coming, eating manna, the spiritual food, was to hear the word of life that God gave to Jesus. By eating it, one's spirit lives. This was the only food of life that Jesus alone could give at the first coming.
Then, what is the hidden manna that Jesus promises to give to the one who overcomes at the Second Coming? In Matthew 24, this is the 'food at the proper time' to be given at the time of the Lord's Second Coming. Furthermore, Jesus promised in Luke 22 that when the kingdom of the Father comes, the flesh and blood of Jesus would be eaten anew. This is the word of life, and this is the hidden manna in Revelation 2.
Therefore, the hidden manna that Jesus gives to the one who overcomes at the time of the Second Coming of the Lord is not physical, but spiritual food; that is, the word of life from Jesus.
Jesus spoke about the secrets of the kingdom of heaven in parables, concealing its meaning until the time it would be fulfilled. Then it would be made known. This secret, or mystery, is revealed when the prophecy recorded in parables is fulfilled and its reality appears. Then this fulfilled reality can be plainly testified.
In Revelation 5, it is written that the words of the New Testament promise - that is, the words of Revelation - are sealed with seven seals in the right hand of God. This sealed scroll, not known by anyone in heaven or earth, was taken by Jesus and he opened its seals. This opened book, which is the revealed word of the New Testament, was given to the one who overcomes, a shepherd (pastor), through an angel as promised in Revelation 10. The one who overcomes is qualified to receive this opened book because he fought and overcame Satan's Nicolaitans who had destroyed God's chosen people.
Therefore, the words written in the open book are the hidden manna that is received by those who overcome. Furthermore, this revealed word of the New Testament, and the one who overcomes who received this revealed word, become the manna at the Second Coming of the Lord.
In summary, manna is food provided by God which, at the time of Moses, was physical food. However, at the first coming, the manna was spiritual food and the living bread that God sent - that is, Jesus Christ and the revealed word of the Old Testament that Jesus preached. The hidden manna we should eat at the Second Coming of the Lord, then, is the revealed word of the New Testament delivered by the one who overcomes who received the opened book from the angel in Revelation 10. This is the food of the spirit.
Pastor, Baptist Church
"What is given to the one who overcomes? Hidden manna. I don't know what the hidden manna is, but once you eat it, it will give you strength. Eating it will make you strong.
Manna does not cause diabetes or high blood pressure. It's the most nutritious and healthy of all foods.
This is the food that angels who came down from heaven ate. Then, if you eat manna, what is the result? Power will arise from within."
