A little over a year ago, Shincheonji Church of Jesus, the Temple of the Tabernacle of the Testimony (Shincheonji Church of Jesus) was certified as having the 'largest number of blood donors (18,819) by any single institution in the shortest period of time' by the Korea Record Institute following a group blood drive held from April 18 to May 4 2022. In addition, all 32,324 blood donation cards and vouchers that the donors subsequently received were gifted to those in need of emergency blood transfusions. That blood drive by Shincheonji Church of Jesus is recognised as the 'largest blood donation in history' and the donation has made a significant contribution to the resolution of the domestic blood supply crisis in Korea that resulted due to the spread of the coronavirus Omicron variant.

Since then, Shincheonji Church of Jesus has developed this culture of blood giving amid the domestic blood crisis in Korea, and on the 27th June was awarded the Korean Red Cross Presidential Award for its noble contribution on 'June 14 World Blood Donor Day'.

The '2023 Blood Donation Awards Ceremony in Commemoration of June 14 World Blood Donor Day' was conducted by the Busan Blood Centre of the Korean Red Cross at the Andrew Tribe Training Centre of Shincheonji Church of Jesus, with officials from both sides in attendance.

Regarding the background of the selection of Shincheonji Church of Jesus, the Busan Blood Centre said, “Even during and since the COVID-19 period, when securing blood was difficult, about 8000 members of the two tribes of Shincheonji Church of Jesus, Andrew and Busan James, voluntarily and actively participated in giving blood to overcome the blood crisis.” Expressing their gratitude, an official from the Andrew tribe of Shincheonji Church of Jesus said, “Despite the difficult situation, Shincheonji Church of Jesus’ participation in humanitarian and life-sharing work has been of great importance to the development of blood banking. Our contribution was appreciated and this time we've received the commendation.”

Bong-gyun Kim, director of the Busan Blood Bank, said, 70% of blood donors in Korea are in their teens and 20s. However, due to changes in the structural demographic, this has decreased to the 55% level, and the remaining blood donation rate is maintained by those in their 30s or older. On the other hand, members of Shincheonji Church of Jesus are participating in blood donation from the ages of 20 to 50. Among them, more than 20% of women are participating in giving blood, playing a leading role in spreading the culture of blood donation. Appealing for participation in blood donation, he said, As it is not possible to make blood donations unless one is in good health, I ask every healthy citizen to actively participate in giving blood.”

Pilseong Park, the leader of Andrew tribe, said, Shincheonji is taking the lead in loving and saving life according to God's will and the will of the Chairman, the promised pastor of today. Shincheonji is passionate about this. In the future, it will take the lead not only in donating blood to save life, but also in testifying to the blood of Jesus that saves souls. Thank you for giving us an appreciation plaque at this time.”

The Andrew tribe of Shincheonji Church of Jesus is consistently putting its love into practice, with about 800 people participating in donating blood in April 2022 and 175 people in March 2023. In addition, for their contribution to blood donation, it was awarded the 2017 Busan Blood Centre Director's Appreciation Plaque, the 2018 Korean Red Cross Blood Management Headquarters Appreciation Plaque, the 2019 Korean Red Cross Busan Blood Center Director's Appreciation Plaque and the Korean Red Cross Presidential Appreciation Plaque.

Meanwhile, 'We Are One', a youth volunteer group comprised of young people from Shincheonji Youth Volunteer Group, registered a total of 71,121 blood donors over 24 hours, setting a Guinness World Record. In addition, from August 27 to November 27 of last year, in preparation for the start of the winter season, a blood donation campaign was held aimed at securing blood from a target of 70,000 people, and a total of 73,807 people completed blood donation over 85 days. Their blood drive has reinforced to the public the importance of donating blood in helping overcome the blood crisis caused by COVID-19.
