The Busan James tribe of Shincheonji Church of Jesus, the Temple of the Tabernacle of the Testimony (Tribe leader Jeong-hwan Lim) invited local journalists to clear up misunderstandings and questions about Shincheonji.

The Busan James tribe held a press conference in the first half of 2023 in Bujeon neighbourhood on the 4th July and announced that Shincheonji will definitely achieve 100,000 graduates this year.

About 15 journalists based in Busan attended the meeting, including Jeong-hwan Lim, chief of the tribe. On that day, the reporters asked questions such as ▲Is Chairman ManHee Lee Jesus? ▲Will 100,000 people really graduate this year? ▲Why are so many young people coming to Shincheonji? ▲The establishment of the 12 tribes of Shincheonji and why the tribe name of Busan James was created.

In response to the question of whether Chairman ManHee Lee is Jesus, the leader of the tribe Jeong-hwan Lim said, “In the Old Testament, Jesus was expressed in prophecy. However, today, at the time of the fulfilment of the Book of Revelation, Shincheonji uses the expressions 'the messenger of Jesus', 'whom Jesus sent', and 'the one who speaks the words of Jesus' as evidenced in the Bible, instead of the word 'prophet'.”

He continued, “In the Book of Revelation, it is written that Jesus fulfils everything and shows it to one person so that that one person can pass it on”, and emphasised, “That one person is the Chairman of Shincheonji, not Jesus.”

Tribe head Lim said, “Before COVID-19, we preached to the believers of Christianity, but now, as we sign MOUs that transcend religious boundaries, the proportion of non-Christians has increased significantly and is approaching 10,000. We expect to achieve the 100,000 graduation goal by the end of this year.”

In addition, “There are quite a lot of church pastors overseas who are saying, ‘Let's change our signboard to Shincheonji,’ and the total number of their congregants is around 800,000.”

With regards to why young people are flocking to Shincheonji, he said, “There is a clear reason why young people can find answers to life through the Bible: the teaching is clear. Analysis shows that the youth here can find direction. It makes us think about life by asking questions that we may have never thought of, such as 'What are we living for?'” He explained the reason why he had come to Shincheonji and the hope he has found.

Lastly, tribe leader Lim said, “I've done my best to answer the questions I received today. I hope that we, Shincheonji, will have further opportunities to reach out to the public.

Meanwhile, Shincheonji's Busan James tribe plans to hold press conferences every month to communicate with journalists and resolve misunderstandings and questions about Shincheonji.
