Shincheonji Simon Tribe Hosts 'Religious Peace Forum'
Shincheonji Church of Jesus, the Temple of the Tabernacle of the Testimony (Shincheonji Church of Jesus) regularly opens its doors to the public to provide Bible-based lectures - especially on the Book of Revelation - to address existing misunderstandings and prejudices about Shincheonji among the wider Christian community and foster deeper ties with communities throughout South Korea.
In the wake of the success of the 'Shincheonji Bible Seminar: Testimony on the Fulfillment of Revelation' for pastors, which was held in six major cities across South Korea and had an attendance of 1800 domestic pastors and 16,000 believers, Shincheonji Church of Jesus has since caused a 'Revelation boom'.
On the afternoon of the 15th June, 70 pastors from within Korea gathered at the Shincheonji Simon Tribe 'WE ARE ONE Religious Peace Forum' held for church pastors at K Turtle in Mapo district, Seoul. It was an opportunity for pastors to verify the revealed theology from Shincheonji Church according to the Bible.
The 70 pastors in attendance witnessed the Shincheonji 100,000 Graduation Ceremony, MOU and signboard replacement for overseas churches, photo exhibition and media façade related to the recent Shincheonji Bible Seminar, and listened to the docent's explanation. Pastors were taken aback by the growth of Shincheonji Church.
Following the opening of the forum with the singing of the national anthem, Pastor Deok-Hyun Kim, current president of Yeshua University Seoul Campus, delivered a congratulatory message, saying, “Inter-denominational and inter-religious activities have been carried out steadily over the last 50 years, but it's only now that religious leaders are becoming one through the MOUs. This is what I've been looking for.” He added, “I've been keeping an eye on Shincheonji Church, which is the only church that has grown rapidly amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.”
He added, “I saw how Shincheonji Church was victimised due to the cult-framing carried out against it by the existing Protestant Church and some media that united with them. I hope that today will shed some light on the truth.”
Seung-joo Lee, the leader of Simon tribe, clearly drew a line about ManHee Lee, the head of Shincheonji Church of Jesus, saying, “He is not the (negative connotation) leader that the world or the religious world speaks of,” and said, “At the location where the Book of Revelation was fulfilled, Chairman Lee has conveyed to the churches exactly what he saw and heard as the messenger of Jesus (Revelation 22:8, 16).”
“As pastors are very well versed in history and doctrine, if we know the prophecies recorded in the Book of Revelation of the New Testament and the details of their fulfilment, we will be able to really lead our church members to the right path.” He confidently said, “We are ready to let everyone know about it.”
Pastors in attendance responded with surprise at the fact that their impressions of Shincheonji Church had differed. The pastors belonging to the Presbyterian Church unanimously expressed their sentiments, saying, “Until now, I'd only known of Chairman ManHee Lee as a religious leader who claimed to be God and Jesus.”
This was reflected on the application form for the special opening class of the Zion Christian Mission Center for pastors. Nearly half of the pastors who participated expressed their will to properly learn about Shincheonji Church one by one in the immediate future.
An official from Shincheonji's Simon tribe said, “In the near future, we will open a centre class for pastors for the first time in the history of the nation's 12 tribes.”
