We Are One, Changwon Branch, conducts 'Life ON Youth ON' blood donation campaign
[Cheonji Ilbo = Reporter Seon-Young Yoon] The Changwon branch of Shincheonji Youth Volunteer Group, We Are One, Busan-Gyeongnam held the 'Life ON Youth ON' blood donation campaign at Gyeongnam Blood Center on 28th October.
'We Are One' is the largest youth volunteer group in Korea with about 90,000 members. 71,121 blood donors registered online over 24 hours to resolve the blood shortage caused by COVID-19 and to promote the importance of blood donation, setting a world record.
The 'Life ON Youth ON' blood donation campaign will require donors to continue donating blood until November with the participation of all possible members, as the blood donation booking has now been completed.
We Are One, Changwon, launched its first campaign on August 30, with a goal of 500 blood donations. The result was 390 eligible blood donations. Through this second blood donation drive, of the 98 volunteers who participated, 76 successfully gave blood, achieving above 90% of the goal. The goal is expected to be achieved by November.
The blood collected through this blood donation campaign will be donated to places in need.
Changwon Branch Manager Hyun-woo Baek said, “A blood donation campaign is the most valuable volunteer activity that can save lives. It was meaningful that we could hold this blood drive once again. I am also grateful to the volunteers who collected the donations.”
We Are One has established an activity plan which puts love for the community and one's neighbour into practice and seeks to resolve domestic challenges and global crises centred on four areas, including blood donation, the creation of a sustainable environment, world peace, and education.
