Every autumn, Korea celebrates Chuseok (추석), one of its biggest traditional holidays. Families gather to share food, honour ancestors, and express gratitude. It is also a time to spread kindness and strengthen bonds within local communities.
This year, ahead of Chuseok, the Shincheonji Volunteer Group Daegu Branch visited Hyeonri-ri in Cheongdo-gun on the 11th, where 20 volunteers carried out a village cleanup and community-sharing activity.
Volunteers removed weeds and cleared overgrown areas near Odong Bridge at residents’ request, helping create a cleaner environment for the holiday.
They also visited the local senior centre, delivering fruit and snacks while sharing Chuseok greetings and spending time with elderly residents.
Su-jin Kim, head of the Daegu Branch, said, “I hope residents feel the warmth of their hometown and find comfort during Chuseok. We will continue caring for the local community and our neighbours in need.”
Meanwhile, the Daegu Branch plans to continue supporting the community, with a village bathhouse cleanup scheduled for the following week.
