“Don’t Drive Drowsy”: Shincheonji Volunteers Urge Safe Travel Ahead of Chuseok

| On 13th September, the Gwangyang Branch of the Shincheonji Volunteer Group is conducting a traffic safety campaign near the Indong Intersection and Supsaem Park in Gwangyang-eup. |
In partnership with the Jeonnam Headquarters of the Environmental Action Alliance, volunteers used banners and picket signs to remind drivers and pedestrians about safe driving, including avoiding drowsy and drunk driving, wearing seatbelts, maintaining a safe distance, and taking regular breaks on long journeys.
According to the Korea Road Traffic Authority, traffic accidents increase around the Chuseok holiday, with accidents particularly common between 2pm and 8pm. Volunteers also carried out a plogging activity near Gwangyang Terminal and Gwangyang 5-Day Market, collecting approximately 500 litres of waste.
Volunteer Hwa-yeong Jeong said, “I hope our campaign can help those returning home for Chuseok have a safe journey.”
A Gwangyang Branch official added, “Even a moment of carelessness can lead to a serious accident. We hope everyone follows traffic safety rules and enjoys a safe and happy Chuseok holiday.”
