Volunteers from the Sokcho Branch of the Gangwon Federation are holding the hand of a war veteran in July.

The Shincheonji Volunteer Group has completed its nationwide “Wise Summer Life” campaign, held from 16th June to 14th August to help communities cope with extreme summer heat. The campaign involved 2633 volunteers, benefiting 16,779 people and engaging 16,232 citizens.

During the campaign, volunteers distributed 10,236 bottles of ice water and beverages and 5542 cooling and emergency supplies, including cooling towels, sleeves, and glucose solutions. Volunteers also visited outdoor workers, rural communities, and senior centres, providing heatwave prevention guidance and practical support.

In addition, volunteers assisted farmers during the busy agricultural season and joined coastal cleanup activities in Incheon, combining heatwave relief with environmental protection.

Honouring Veterans Through Summer Care
The campaign also continued efforts to support war veterans. Volunteers visited veterans’ homes to check their living conditions, clean fans and air-conditioner filters, install curtains, and provide 176 bowls of samgyetang (ginseng chicken soup) and 218 sets of summer bedding.

Citizen-participation events honoring veterans were also held in Seoul, Goyang, and Pohang. Citizens wrote 1188 thank-you letters, while 52 framed portraits created by citizens were presented to veterans.

A Shincheonji Volunteer Group official said, “Through this campaign, we were able to support communities facing the summer heat while honouring those who have contributed to our nation. We will continue sharing and serving others in the years ahead.”
