What is the Reality of the Star that Fell from the Sky in Revelation 9?
📰The Bible is one of the best-selling and most widely distributed books in history, yet it is also considered to be among the least understood. The Bible, which is referred to as the New Covenant and Promise of God, in which 'the way to heaven and salvation' is presented, differs in theologians' interpretations that make it difficult to understand. These differing interpretations have been the cause of the rise of denominations with each one establishing their own doctrine. With the increase in online church services and gatherings resulting from the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, there has been growing interest in the comparison of various church doctrine. This paper, therefore, attempts to provide readers with the opportunity to compare differing Biblical teachings without interpretation. Among a host of online sermons and Bible-based teachings, the contrasting doctrine between the established Church and Shincheonji Church of Jesus, which has drawn public interest throughout the Covid-19 pandemic, is hereby compared and summarised. Best efforts have been made to provide a summary of Shincheonji Church of Jesus' understanding of the Bible. Judgment as to what is right or wrong is left to the reader’s discernment.

In Revelation 9:1, the fifth angel sounded his trumpet, and there was a star that fell from the sky to the earth, and it is written that he received the key to the abyss. What is the reality of this star?
To understand the star that fell from the sky, let's first look at what the sky and stars represent, and the meaning of the star falling from the sky.
The heavens spoken of in the Bible refer to a physical heaven and a spiritual heaven that are described using the literal heaven as an analogy. Just as the heavens possess the characteristic of being high, the place where God Most High is likened to is heaven. Therefore, the spiritual world where God resides, which is the spiritual realm of heaven, is heaven, and the tabernacle on earth where God resides is likened to heaven. God in heaven is likened to the sun, and the tens of millions of angels that surround the throne of God represent the stars of heaven. So, what is the star that fell from the sky?
In the book of Isaiah chapter 14, it is written that a star called the 'Morning Star' fell from the sky. This star is the one who overthrew the nations, sought to exalt his throne above the stars of heaven, and fell from heaven to the earth while trying to make himself God. He fell because he sinned due to greed and pride in wanting to raise himself above God, and so was cast out of God's dwelling in heaven to the earth. In other words, heaven is the kingdom of God in the spiritual world where God dwells. A star falling from the sky (heaven) is a metaphor used to describe a sinful angel being cast out of the kingdom of God.
Similarly, what first happens in the spiritual world also happens in the physical world. The spirit enters the body to carry out its work, and so the body is governed by the spirit. At the time of Adam, the sinful angel, or evil spirit, entered the serpent and, in the time of Jacob, also worked as the serpent through Dan, who was the son of Jacob, and also worked at the time of the first coming through Judas Iscariot.
In Luke 10:18, it is said that Satan fell like lightning from heaven, and in Luke 22:3, it is said that Satan entered Judas Iscariot. As a result, Judas Iscariot, a disciple of Jesus, sold Jesus off to the scribes and Pharisees to be crucified in exchange for thirty pieces of silver. Judas opened the door to the pastors and scribes of Jerusalem, which was an organisation belonging to Satan.
Therefore, at the first coming, Jesus whom God was with, was the kingdom of heaven. Judas Iscariot, who had belonged to Jesus, betrayed Jesus and left, so he became a star that fell from the sky.
Likewise, in Revelation 1:20 today, the seven angels of the seven churches are called the seven stars, and in Revelation 13:6, the tabernacle of the seven golden lampstands where the seven stars are is called heaven.
Therefore, the heaven of Revelation 9 is God's tabernacle where the seven stars were. The star that fell from the sky fell from heaven's tabernacle and represents a false pastor who became one with the group of destroyers and moved from being God's possession to becoming Satan's possession.
As recorded in Revelation 2~3, he is the one who deceived the believers in the tabernacle of God with the teachings and doctrines of the destroyers, feeding them food sacrificed to idols and making them commit spiritual adultery. In Revelation 8, he is the star that 'fell from the sky' to the earth, and his group is called the 'Nicolaitans' in Revelation 2.
In summary, the sky in the main reference is heaven's tabernacle where the seven stars are. The star that fell from the sky refers to a false pastor who entered heaven's tabernacle and then betrayed.
Revelation 9 tells the story of a star that fell from heaven; that is, a false pastor who entered the tabernacle of God and betrayed, receiving the key to the abyss to bring out locusts and kill the believers in the tabernacle of God who had betrayed.

It's about being in Christ. Now, did Jesus Christ give this (the key of the abyss) to Satan or to an angel? He gave it to an angel. In other words, in Revelation 9:1, the star that fell from heaven to the earth refers to an angel who is a heavenly being. This is not my own personal interpretation, but fits within the context of the entire book of Revelation. Therefore, it is very difficult to interpret this book of Revelation."
(The next day) "Yesterday, while I was interpreting this, I accidentally taught on the book of Revelation. I somewhat regret it. Why do senior pastors or interpreters hesitate preaching on this book of Revelation? It was only yesterday I realised why.
In particular, there are too many interpretations of Revelation 9:1. Everyone has a different interpretation. Interpretations within evangelicalism are too different. So, after holding on to only 1 verse for 5-6 hours, I was really confused. The entire direction of the sermon was turned upside down once, twice or even three times. Which interpretation should be adopted? As a preacher who has the responsibility to teach and preach the Word, this is something I have agonised over.
Even within evangelicalism, the interpretation of the existence of a star that fell from the sky to the earth differs greatly. So confusion is bound to arise. Which one should one call Satan, and the other a betraying angel? It's not usually a serious matter. Then, while referring to various books while covering the entire Bible, interpreting this scripture as being affiliated to Satan can be quite problematic."
