What is the 'Sound of the Trumpet', and Who are the 'Elect' in Matthew 24, Jesus' Promised Second Coming?
📰The Bible is one of the best-selling and most widely distributed books in history, yet it is also considered to be among the least understood. The Bible, which is referred to as the New Covenant and Promise of God, in which 'the way to heaven and salvation' is presented, differs in theologians' interpretations that make it difficult to understand. These differing interpretations have been the cause of the rise of denominations with each one establishing their own doctrine. With the increase in online church services and gatherings resulting from the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, there has been growing interest in the comparison of various church doctrine. This paper, therefore, attempts to provide readers with the opportunity to compare differing Biblical teachings without interpretation. Among a host of online sermons and Bible-based teachings, the contrasting doctrine between the established Church and Shincheonji Church of Jesus, which has drawn public interest throughout the Covid-19 pandemic, is hereby compared and summarised. Best efforts have been made to provide a summary of Shincheonji Church of Jesus' understanding of the Bible. Judgment as to what is right or wrong is left to the reader’s discernment.

Believers today eagerly await Jesus' promised second coming. In Matthew 24, it was said that Jesus would come again and send his angels with a loud trumpet call to gather the elect.
The words of Matthew 24 are prophecies that will occur at the second coming of Jesus. The beginnings of Matthew 24 show Jesus' disciples asking Jesus what the signs of his coming and of the end of the age would be. At that time, Jesus spoke about various events that would take place at his second coming.
What Jesus figuratively described here is a spiritual war; that is, a religious war between the kingdom of God and the kingdom of Satan that would take place within the temple of God. Jesus said that when the chosen people who become corrupt are defeated in this spiritual war, and the abomination of desolation stands in the holy place, then God's people must flee to the mountains. In other words, when the chosen people, who are figuratively likened to the sun, moon and stars, darken and fall and are destroyed, Jesus will come on the clouds and send his angels with a loud trumpet call to gather the elect from all directions, according to his promise.

The same is recorded in the book of Revelation, which is the prophetic book of the New Testament. Firstly, the seven stars who prepare the way for the Lord and the tabernacle of the seven golden lampstands - that is, the seven shepherds (pastors) of the Tabernacle Temple - appear. Due to their betrayal and breaking of the covenant with God, they are captured in spiritual warfare against the beast with seven heads and ten horns, and are defeated. As a result, the sun, moon and stars darken and fall. This darkening of the sun, moon and stars refers to a situation in which the pastors and evangelists of the tabernacle of the chosen people were no longer able to testify the word of God, that is like light. The falling of the stars means that the believers of heaven's tabernacle return to the earth and become Satan's possession.
In this way, God's kingdom and people are destroyed because of their betrayal. The light of truth darkens, and the world becomes a dark spiritual night. What does it mean for Jesus to come on a cloud at the time of spiritual night?
In the book of Acts, we see that Jesus will come back on the clouds, which means that He will come as a Spirit. Then, what is the sound of the trumpet that calls the elect to Jesus who comes as Spirit? As was said in Isaiah 58:1, "Raise your voice like a trumpet. Declare to my people their rebellion and to the descendants of Jacob their sins." God is Spirit, and God uses men (flesh) as a trumpet to proclaim His will. Therefore, the one who blows the trumpet is the spirit - an angel - and the trumpet is a person who speaks the words of God. Today, the sound of the trumpet is the testimony of the fulfilment of the Book of Revelation.
In the book of Revelation, there are seven trumpets that proclaim the word of God. Among them, the sound of the first six trumpets make known that the chosen people who betrayed will be put to an end by the Gentile destroyers. The seventh trumpet is the sound of salvation, which proclaims that the kingdom of the world becomes the kingdom of God. When the seventh trumpet is sounded, the mystery of God is fulfilled.
Then, who is the reality of this seventh trumpet? The reality of the seventh trumpet is new John who received the opened book of Revelation 10 and who fought and defeated (overcame) the beast. Through the one who overcomes, new John, the temple of God can be established on the earth. At the Second Coming of the Lord, Jesus uses new John, the one who overcomes, as a trumpet to proclaim the work of salvation and to gather the elect into the temple of God.
In this way, at the end of the age, this gathering of Jesus' elect is fulfilled through the work of harvest. Roughly 2600 years ago, God promised through Jeremiah that two kinds of seed would be sown. This was fulfilled by Jesus who sowed God's seed at the first coming. Jesus said that once these two seeds have grown, the time of harvest would come. Jesus also said that the harvesters are angels, and the harvest is the end of the world. According to this promise, Jesus and his angels have today harvested from his field, which is the world of spiritual Israel. Those who have been harvested are born of God's seed and believe in Jesus. The people born of God's seed are the elect spoken of within the main reference.
These people who have been harvested by the angels are the sealed 144,000 of the 12 tribes of Israel and the multitude in white in Revelation chapter 7. The place where they are harvested to is Mount Zion of Revelation 14, where God and Jesus come. God's 6,000-year will and purpose has been to restore His lost kingdom and to create the 12 tribes by harvesting those born of God's seed at the sound of the last trumpet. Apostle Paul said that when the last trumpet is sounded, the dead will resurrect with spiritual bodies, and we who are alive will also be changed. When the mortal puts on immortality and the perishable puts on the imperishable, it is said that death will be swallowed up in victory - namely, resurrection and eternal life.

The 'elect' at that time were predominantly the descendants of Jacob, the first chosen people of physical lineage - the Jewish people. There were also people chosen among the Jews who neither bowed down to idols, nor received the number 666 and who lived solitary lives in the mountains, fields and valleys, believing in Jesus while in hiding."
