✦ Lecture 6: 'The Promised Pastors of the Old Testament and the New Testament'

[Cheonji Ilbo = Correspondent Min-hee Kim] Shincheonji Church of Jesus, the Temple of the Tabernacle of the Testimony (Shincheonji Church of Jesus, Chairman Man-hee Lee) delivered a seminar on the seminar series 'Testimony on the Revelation of the Old Testament and New Testament by Chapter'

On the 21st April, Jae-Jun Oh, head lecturer of Chungju church (Philip tribe) of Shincheonji Church of Jesus, delivered a lecture under the theme of 'The Promised Pastors of the Old Testament and the New Testament'.

Before delving into the heart of the lecture, Lecturer Oh emphasised, “We must understand who the pastors promised in the Old and New Testaments are, how we can verify them, and what it means for me.”

There are several shepherds in the Bible. What is their role? 

According to the lecture, there are four types of shepherds in the Bible: ▲ 'Shepherd of prophecy' chosen to make known what will happen in the future ▲ 'General shepherd' who has the duty to convey what the promised shepherd has fulfilled ▲ 'Promised Shepherd' who comes according to what God promised in advance through the shepherd of prophecy ▲ 'False Shepherds' who belong to Satan and teach lies.

Among these four shepherds, the most important is the 'promised shepherd', who can be divided into the promised shepherd of the Old Testament and the promised shepherd of the New Testament.

First, the promised pastor of the Old Testament was explained. Lecturer Oh said, “God came to Jesus, the promised pastor of the Old Testament, who fulfilled everything that was prophesied by the Old Testament prophets. 'It is finished' means that Jesus fulfilled all the prophecies of the Old Testament.”

Next, the promised pastor of the New Testament was explained. Lecturer Oh said, “There are many prophecies about the promised pastor in the four Gospels and the Book of Revelation of the New Testament.”

According to the explanation, in Revelation 10, the one who received and ate the open book that Jesus gave through the angel, who is the witness who saw and heard all the events of the book of Revelation according to Revelation 22:8, is the messenger Jesus sends for the churches in Revelation 22:16 - that is, the promised shepherd of the New Testament.

Then, how can we be certain who the promised pastor of the New Testament is? Lecturer Oh said, “The messenger of Jesus must be able to testify all the prophecies and fulfilment (fulfilled realities) of the Book of Revelation, according to what they have seen and heard.”

He continued, “Jesus, who comes again at the time of the fulfilment of Revelation, becomes one with the promised pastor, harvests those born of God’s seed as promised in Revelation 14, and seals them according to the words of Revelation 7 in order to create the 12 tribes.” He added, “Finding the 12 tribes of the kingdom of God is the way to receive the forgiveness of sin and receive salvation and heaven at the Second Coming of the Lord.”

Finally, he said, “We must meet the pastor whom Jesus promised and listen to his testimony to confirm, believe, and keep the written prophecies and their fulfilment. A true believer is saved only when he learns, knows and believes the true will of God.”
