“I was nervous at first, but with practice, my fears dissipated and I gained a new-found confidence in being equipped to know how to save someone’s life.”
To spread a culture of respect for life and safety, Shincheonji Church of Jesus, the Temple of the Tabernacle of the Testimony, Andrew Tribe (hereafter referred to as the Shincheonji Andrew Tribe), conducted CPR and airway obstruction response training to a total of 241 congregants at the Andrew Tribe Training Centre in South Korea on the 12th August. One of the saints who participated in the training said the above.

According to data published by the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency, about 80% of cardiac arrest patients in Korea occur outside the hospital, and the survival rate is known to differ by 2-3 times depending on whether a bystander performs CPR. This training, therefore, goes beyond simple knowledge transfer, enabling participants to respond immediately and take necessary action in emergency situations.
The training, led by eight staff members, two professional instructors, and 31 teaching assistants, consisted of theoretical instruction, a 45-minute teaching assistant demonstration, and 60 minutes of individual practice. Participants focused on two hours of repetitive practice using chest compression animations, educational automated external defibrillators (AEDs), and Heimlich training animations, thereby increasing their proficiency for preparation for real-life experiences.
Meanwhile, Shincheonji Church of Jesus is sequentially expanding CPR training per tribe this year, with a view to expanding the training target from members to the general public.
