“I haven’t had many opportunities to feel the sacrifices of those who have contributed to the country up close, but this time, I perceived a lot while cleaning the cenotaph myself.”
To commemorate the 75th anniversary of the Korean War and the sacrifices of those who gave their lives in the war, the Shincheonji Volunteer Group Seongdong Branch carried out an environmental cleanup of the 'Memorial Monument for the 16 Patriots' of the Korean War in Dongdaemun, Seoul, and a volunteer member expressed this.
The Memorial Monument for the 16 Patriots is a monument erected to honour the spirits of the 16 individuals who voluntarily organised a death squad during the Korean War and died in the line of duty.
Accordingly, on the 29th June, 10 members of the Shincheonji Volunteer Group Seongdong Branch conducted a cleanup of the area surrounding the cenotaph, placed a bouquet of chrysanthemums on the cleaned stone to express their gratitude, and held a moment of silence to reflect on the meaning of patriotism and veterans’ welfare.
Meanwhile, every June (Patriots and Veterans Month) since 2015, the Shincheonji Volunteer Group has held events nationwide to commemorate the souls of those who fought to defend the country and to advocate for peace and reunification of the Koreas.
