The NHE Wind Orchestra of Shincheonji Church of Jesus achieved a remarkable milestone, winning the Grand Prize in the General Division at the 49th Korea Wind Music Competition. This marks the ensemble’s very first official external performance - yet their debut already showcased their musical potential to the nation.

The competition, hosted by the Korea Band Association and organised by the Yeoju Sejong Foundation for Culture and Tourism, ran from August 14th to 17th at the Yeoju Sejong National Center for Korean Traditional Performing Arts. As Korea’s most prestigious wind music event since its founding in 1976, it drew 2500 participants from 50 teams across the country.

The achievement reflects months of consistent effort. A total of 60 members who prepared for the stage of this competition have been practising every Saturday since March, supplemented by five intensive training camps. This consistent effort led to the achievement of winning the general division's best prize on their first appearance.

Orchestral Director Sang-gun Park expressed pride: “Even though it was our debut competition, the members performed at an impressively high level. This result is only the beginning - we will continue growing to perform on the world stage as well.”

Composed of woodwinds, brass, and percussion, the NHE Wind Orchestra conveys “Heavenly Culture” through the grand and vibrant sound unique to wind ensembles. Following this award, the orchestra plans to expand its performances both domestically and internationally, aiming to touch wider audiences with its powerful message through music.

This historic win demonstrates not only artistic excellence but also the possibility of faith-inspired culture contributing to society’s rich musical landscape.
