Volunteers salute veterans at the "Love Your Country, Share Peace" event held at the entrance of Dobongsan Mountain on the 26th June

“There are only about 36,000 Korean War veterans still living, and about 8000 of them pass away every year. This reality shows how quickly the memories of war are fading.”

On the 26th June, the Shincheonji Volunteer Group Eastern Seoul branch held the 'Love Your Country, Share Peace' event at the entrance to Dobongsan Mountain in Seoul, and the head of the Nowon branch of the Korean War Veterans' Association said this with reddened eyes.

Shincheonji Volunteer Group has held the annual 'Love Your Country, Share Peace' campaign in the month of June (Patriot & Veterans Month) nationwide, since 2015, to commemorate the souls of the war veterans who died for the peace of Korea - particularly those of the Korean War - and to promote a world of peace without conflict.

Accordingly, on the 26th June, as an expression of gratitude to living veterans and to pay tribute to the fallen who defended the country, as well as to advocate for the necessity of peace and unification, members of the Shincheonji Volunteer Group Eastern Seoul branch and members of the Korean War Veterans' Association carried out diverse activities, including a Korean War photo exhibition and a peace message writing event. Veterans and the younger generations united on historical pain and the value of peace.

An official of the Shincheonji Volunteer Group Eastern Seoul Branch said, “We will remember the sacrifice of those who gave their lives for peace for the Republic of Korea, and strive to ensure that a culture of peace takes root throughout the community.”
