Every year, Shincheonji Church of Jesus commemorates the anniversary of the National Liberation Day of Korea (15th August) to help citizens reflect on the meaning of Liberation Day while honouring the spirit of Korea's independence activists who aided the nation's liberation from Japanese colonial rule in 1945.

To commemorate its 80th anniversary, Shincheonji Church of Jesus, the Temple of the Tabernacle of the Testimony, Bartholomew Tribe, Bucheon Church (hereafter referred to as 'Shincheonji Bucheon Church') held a community campaign in front of Bucheon City Hall Plaza to around 200 participants in attendance, including families and youths.

At the event, volunteers brought history to life through practical activities that reflect on the sacrifices of national heroes, including a famous quotes quiz by independence activists, and Taegukgi flag puzzle for primary school students and their families, piecing together the Korean flag.

One young participant, Yun-seo Noh (13, Bucheon), shared, “Since independence activists gave their lives, I felt that I too should do my best as a citizen to protect my country.”

Her mother, Hye-kyung Shim (43, Bucheon), reflected:-
“History is something we can easily forget in daily life. This was an important opportunity to reflect, and I'll encourage my child to learn more about these activists through books at home.”

The Bucheon Church explained that the goal of the campaign was not only to remember the past but also to encourage dialogue between generations, helping citizens recognise the importance of patriotism and carry these values into the future.

The independence Korea celebrates today came with tremendous hardship. May we never forget the strength of those who lived through it.
