"It's heart-warming to see young men in uniform saluting like this. Please don't forget us."

On the 23rd June, the Shincheonji Volunteer Group Gangdong Branch held the 'Love Your Country, Share Peace' event at Ogeum Park, Seoul, and an official from the Korean War Veterans' Association said this with bleary eyes after receiving a salute from volunteer members.

Shincheonji Volunteer Group has held the annual 'Love Your Country, Share Peace' campaign in June (Patriot & Veterans Month) nationwide, since 2015, to commemorate the souls of the war veterans who died for the peace of Korea, particularly those of the Korean War, and to promote a world of peace without conflict.

Accordingly, on the 23rd June, as an expression of gratitude to living veterans and to pay tribute to the fallen who defended the country, 22 youth volunteers from the Shincheonji Volunteer Group Gangdong branch cleaned the monument, and 10 youth volunteers donned military uniforms and saluted living veterans of the Korean War.

In particular, the sight of young volunteers in military uniforms laying flowers and saluting the veterans in front of the monument moved the hearts of those gathered there.

After the event, young volunteers accompanied veterans with limited mobility hand-in-hand out of the venue. The event also drew attention as an educational opportunity for children from nearby daycare centres who were taking part in experiential activities to learn about the meaning of love for their country.
