Conclusion of Shincheonji Bible Seminar in Daegu deemed a success, “I heard it myself, and my misunderstandings have turned into Understandings”
“I was able to validate the words of Shincheonji with two criteria. The first is, 'What is a true religious leader?' The second is, 'Does the teaching come from anywhere other than the Bible?' After listening for myself, I realised that what I knew before were 'misunderstandings'. And with the words I heard, I thought, 'I can now educate church members with confidence'.”
(Pastor Choi, 49, male, Gimhae Church A)
The concluding in-person lecture of the 'Shincheonji Bible Seminar: Testimony on the Fulfillment of Revelation', delivered by Chairman ManHee Lee of Shincheonji Church of Jesus, the Temple of the Tabernacle of the Testimony (Shincheonji Church of Jesus) at the Inter-Burgo Hotel in Daegu on 11th June, ended with great success.
The region of Yeongnam, where the city of Daegu lies, is home to a comparatively high population of Buddhist believers, yet hundreds of pastors from the Busan and Gyeongnam regions flocked to the lecture in Daegu. Clearly, the impression of Shincheonji, which had been subjected to false accusations at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic in Daegu back in early 2020, is rapidly changing.
Most of the attendees listened attentively to the lecture detailing the prophecies and fulfilled realities of the Book of Revelation, and did not leave their seats even for a moment. Former and current pastors pledged to make changes in their pastoral activities in line with today's era of the testimony on Revelation's fulfilment, which is being testified through the Shincheonji Bible Seminar.
◆ Shincheonji Bible Seminar in Daegu reconfirms interest in Revelation
Chairman ManHee Lee of Shincheonji Church of Jesus served as the lecturer in every seminar held weekly in Seoul (April 22), Busan (April 30), Daejeon (May 6), Incheon (May 13) and Gwangju (June 3). A total of 1800 pastors and 16,000 believers from within Korea attended.
About 300 current and former pastors, preachers, evangelists, and seminarians from major Protestant denominations, such as the Presbyterian Church, Methodist Church, and Full Gospel Church, who attended in person to directly check the exposition of the Book of Revelation, warmed the seats. In addition to the pastors, 1700 people, including lay people and ordinary citizens, also attended and filled the lecture hall.
The lecture was broadcast live in 9 languages (English, Chinese, Japanese, French, Mongolian, Spanish, Russian) through YouTube and other online platforms, and 30,000 people participated in real time.
A local media official who attended the event said, “I was quite surprised that pastors came to listen to the Shincheonji lectures.” He said, “This lecture theme on the fulfilment of the prophecy of Revelation, which is a book regarded as incredibly difficult to interpret - even in the religious world - due to its metaphorical language, seems to have been timely, and it seems to have implied many things to pastors. I can envisage the potential for the growth of Shincheonji through this Bible-based lecture centred on the prophecies and fulfilled realities of the Book of Revelation.”
On that day, Chairman Lee, who came to the podium without a script, delivered a powerful speech that lasted for an hour, stunning the audience. Chairman Lee, who began his testimony explaining how his life of faith began one day with the guidance of a star as an ordinary farmer, said, “I am here to tell pastors about the fulfilment of the Book of Revelation that God has shown me. The Bible was not written as a joke. God recorded the Book of Revelation, which is a book of promise, had it preached for 2000 years, and today is being fulfilled.”
Chairman Lee emphasised, “If you're someone who believes in the Bible as the standard, shouldn’t you check (the reality that has been fulfilled)?” and emphasised, “You must discern with the Word of God, not according to your own rash thoughts and judgments.”
◆ “A must-see seminar for pastors”
The pastors who were mostly seated in the front rows listened to the lecture with intent, and some intently wrote down the words of Chairman Lee.
Pastor Baek, a member of the Reformed Presbyterian Church of Korea (PCK), said, “Chairman Lee said, ‘Let’s be humble and let's respect each other'. He emphasised that, regardless of religion, we should converse as humans, fill in whatever gaps exist and share. I was very impressed.” He added, “It seems that the correct response from the religious world is to directly confirm and evaluate, rather than close the door and categorically criticise.”
Elder Kim (75, male) of the Presbyterian Church said, “I was surprised by this first experience listening to a lecture by Chairman Lee.” He said, “It was edifying listening to the many good things preached about the Bible. It was enlightening. I was particularly moved by the structure and delivery of the lecture, as well as the orderly appearance at the venue.”
“Pastors have a tendency to insist that their churches alone are good. However, I wish to learn good words (teachings) and teach them to the congregation members.”
Judging the reaction of many pastors who attended the Shincheonji Bible Seminar, the pastors of the Christian Protestant world are beginning to seriously verify the words of Shincheonji.
Shincheonji Church of Jesus has been conducting online seminars through its official YouTube channel since the COVID-19 pandemic. Through the various Bible seminars translated into different languages, people were naturally introduced to the seminars of Shincheonji Church of Jesus overseas, and the number of pastors requesting an MOU signing to have the word from Shincheonji taught to their congregations began to increase.
According to the status of overseas MOUs announced by the Overseas Mission Department of the Shincheonji Church General Assembly, as of the end of May, there are 7800 churches in 80 countries that have signed MOUs with Shincheonji Church to have the word from Shincheonji taught to their respective congregations, and the total number of members belonging to these churches exceeds 819,000. There are more than 1000 churches in 32 countries that have replaced their signboards with the name Shincheonji Church. They are learning the Word through videos and materials provided by Shincheonji Church.
An official from Shincheonji, Church of Jesus said, “The Shincheonji Bible Seminar is very meaningful in that it conveys the fulfilled reality of the Book of Revelation to new pastors as well as pastors who have already signed an MOU (with Shincheonji). A 'We can do it' attitude is growing.” The official said, “I hope that this will serve as an opportunity for us to think about the kind of faith that God desires, centred on the Bible, and put it into practice.”
